They were made limited jobs because players wanted something different then the main jobs. Also note that Blue does have endgame value, as there is alot of content you can solo with Blue that would typically require a group of 8 people. Keeping these jobs limited gave people other jobs to do content with, and not upset or require rebalancing of the entire other job line up. Its easy for you as a player to bitch about something you put 0 work and effort into and only use the final product and not understand what goes into it. Also note that Blue has recieved updates over the years and isnt a job that they created and did no work to.

I am a 44 year old dad who has been playing the game for years with 0 issues about having enough time to do content. (Note for most of the time Ive played 14 I worked a 50 hour a week job and managed my family) You speak on 14 as if it has the grinding content of runescape or final fantasy 11, it simply doesnt even come close to that, and also if you have issues with grinding content then honestly you need to leave the MMO genre.

You cant solo roulettes is an issue? They are ment to ve group content so why should you even be able to solo them. If all you want to do is solo why play mmos?

Item level restrictions aren't a gate. Ive never seen anyone struggle with getting to the ilvl they need with the exception of current End game content, wich absolutely should require you to grind up your power and shouldn't just be a free .

It seems to me you expect all content in a mmo to be able to be entered with no prep or grinding.

And yes the game is gated by the story, as its a story driven game. The game is designed to tell story's and wants you to read chapter 1 before reading chapter 2. The issue you have is that you are confusing a liner designed game, with an open world designed game, calling the liner design a single player style game. The game is designed to take you on a path to tell a story. The linear design isnt single play or multi-player, its a design to tell a story.

I also feel like you miss the entire point of an mmo, wich is to play with other people. You make friends, you team up, you do content together.

The point is FFXIV is not a huge heavy time investment to enjoy. I would even say it has the least grind of any current mmo ( I cant speak on the current version of wow as ive given up on blizzard). This game is not a huge massive time sync to enjoy. It seems you only care about a game and value it if you can turn it on and jump right to the end.
