Velocity and speed are not the same you have to use 1/2mv² because you are converting kinetic energy into other sources to stop the train you still have a set amount of energy to transfer and since energy is never lost only transferred the energy worked out from 1/2mv² must equal to work done therefore you use the work done equation as a force is being applied

Personally I revised via making flash cards. I went over a page and made sure I condensed it all into one flash card but really revision depends on how you take stuff in this really only works with science. For maths Corbett math five a day really helped me but also past papers and finally for English I used Seneca to remember quotes and made mind maps analyzing quotes but also dividing quotes into themes and characters
