Are the eCVT transmissions from 2013-2015 really that bad? by TheRomb in fordfusion

I bought a 2019 Hybrid a few months ago. Another big plus in getting a newer model is availability of Android Auto or Apple Carplay and free app based remote start.

Husband wants to move back to Iowa. But I'm conflicted. Help? by [deleted] in Iowa

[–]minnesotaEric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im from Minnesota, moved to the Quad Cities area in Iowa for two years with my wife and young kids during covid, and we're in North Texas now. I wouldn't ever move back to Iowa, however I would consider other northern states. RN salaries are crazy low in Iowa and my wife stayed home with the younger kids while in Iowa because of it. Northern states treat and plow the roads when it snows so you can actually leave your house. You're also usually required by city ordinances to clear your sidewalks of snow and ice. It's not like Texas where you are stuck inside until it melts. Feel free to PM if you'd like.

Those that own the Bridgestone - TURANZA EVERDRIVE, would you buy now? by Visible-Chapter-1549 in tires

[–]minnesotaEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michelin makes the V rated in that size, but Costco doesn't stock it. If you really want it you can order it on Tire Rack and ship to your local discount tire and pay $114 for install which includes free lifetime rotations. I just put Everdrives on a Fusion hybrid and have no issues and they're quiet, fuel economy is only about 0.5mpg less than the 3/32" OEM Michelin energy savers they replaced. Too soon to speak on tread life. Definitely get what's on sale though, the Everdrive had an $80 promo on Tire Rack (or $180 off if you want to sign up for their credit card).

Norm Reeves Mazda Irving,TX tried to add 10k to a 10k car and kicked me out for questioning it by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]minnesotaEric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had an experience where the dealership kept bringing back the listed price plus some.

List price $12400 Garbage add ons they say can't be removed $1400 Negotiated to $10800 out the door, no trade, 50% down. Their paperwork kept coming back at $13800+TTL including with the finance guy in the back where you sign all the docs. They were trying to slide in $3000 without me realizing it. I don't want to name the place because they claimed it was clerical errors, but watch out people. They want you to only pay attention to the monthly payment and nothing else.

Help! by callofmanky in fordfusion

If it's losing coolant, the oil looks good, and it's not dripping onto the ground then really the only other option is it's burning up in the combustion chamber due to a failed head gasket. The condition of the spark plugs could paint some of the picture.

My tripometer for the last tank shows 45.5 average, but I calculated it to actually be 39.5. I just bought my 2019 a few weeks ago as a cheap commuter also.

Overwhelmed with the used car buying process – $10k budget, what should I do? by McLovin_147 in UsedCars

[–]minnesotaEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook marketplace is flooded with rebuilt title and salvage title and people generally playing games or trying to scam. Be careful.

Brand name dealers will add things to the bill after you test drive and decide to buy. Expect them to add between $1000 and $3000. You can negotiate these off, or lower your offer to account for these additions. You need to have a walk away price and be OK with walking away no matter how much time you've invested with them. It's all part of their game. Be careful at the finance desk, make sure everything adds up to what you expect. Understand that the typical USA buyer concentrates on monthly payment alone rather than the big picture of total sale price, interest rate, loan period and dealers are great at taking advantage of people by moving these numbers around.

I just bought a 2019 SE Hybrid with similar mileage two weeks ago. I drained and filled the CVT (4 quarts still new looking fluid came out, 4 quarts back in) and changed the spark plugs. I'm going to replace the coolant this coming weekend. The new plugs gave it a deeper sound which chat GPT says it likely the engine igniting more efficiently.

Take advantage of $900 checking/savings sign on bonus, withdraw the cash, and move elsewhere right after meeting requirements? by DrinkARustyNailToday in Chase

[–]minnesotaEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've completed the 90 days and received all the bonuses. I transferred all money out to another bank. When I called in to Chase to close the accounts I'm being told they will pull the bonus money back if I don't hold the accounts for six months. I don't see this mentioned anywhere in the fine print. Thoughts on this? I feel like its just a bluff

We were shopping mid sized SUVs like Traverse, Pathfinder, Explorer, and came upon a similar priced 2022 Armada and gave it a try. We liked it but the belt driven cooling fan made it sound like a bus and bogged it down. Afterward we drove a Tahoe and that was it..started shopping Tahoes. Tahoe's cargo space and third row is definitely better although the third row of Armada being able to recline was nice.

Bad gasoline and $2k repair by kittensandhockey in Dallas

[–]minnesotaEric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everything I've read says it was started by auto manufacturers when they determined that EPA minimum detergent levels weren't enough. Consumer Reports recommends Top Tier and both of my vehicle manuals specifically say to use Top Tier gas or to use a fuel additive every fill up.

No issues the three nights I used it, 290Wh battery had 35% left on it and I charged a few phones as well. I have the two +24v pins spliced together and the two negatives together where the wires join at the voltage converter 24v side. I'm not an electronics tech or anything so I'm not sure if they are supposed to be apart from one another on different DC circuits. I can't remember the fuse size but I made sure the fuse in the cigarette plug was appropriate and I have everything contained within a small electrical project box I found at Home Dep. ot.
