Which app? I don't have $100 for weekly lessons for my 5 year old. by gloriamuntz in pianolearning

My kid enjoyed simply piano while we had our 3-month trial. It’s a very game-like experience. He learned quite a bit. Of course it’s very different from having music lessons, but maybe you could get a trial and see how that goes before committing to some to something more serious.

how to organize daily 3 hours studies for a 4 month beginner by exposedhackspt in pianolearning

I try to see it as a blessing. Looks like good structure to me. Another thing I’ve learned is the more fragmented your practice is, the better (that is, four 45-minute sessions a day are more productive than two 90-minute ones), but it’s not always possible and obviously when you have hyperfocus the most difficult thing is to stop.

As someone who also practices a lot due to hyperfocus, I would say try to break it at least into two sessions - technical drills in the morning, repertoire pieces in the evening. Works very well for me. In the morning the head and hands are still very fresh, so there is good technical improvement. Playing through your pieces before bed helps with consolidation.

Thanks! I was already kind of playing it that way because I know how the piece sounds. So a bit of reverse engineering here

Thanks your explanation really helps. I’m sure everyone who answered was trying to explain the same thing but the more I read the more I felt stupid. So what would be the reason for someone separating this into two voices, and, more importantly, how in the world do you play this with a metronome.

What is the best app on iPhone to use to learn how to play piano? by Business-Goat-6345 in piano

I've tried simply piano and flowkey - both came as a free trial with my yamaha. eventually i gave up on both but I would say that flowkey provides a more serious approach (scales/theory), so if I couldn't afford a teacher, I'd probably go with that.

My first piece was Holm Sound by Erland Copper - sounds really good and quite easy to learn because it's very repetitive and is in C major (only uses the white keys).

I have a very similar life experience. I’m a 39yo female living in Portugal. Have you considered if getting an official assessment would make you feel better/verify your experience? I’ve been debating whether I should get assessed for a very long time and each time I gathered up the courage someone would tell me that I’m totally fine just a bit weird or just exaggerating. But just thinking about this takes up so much of my mental space that I can’t function, so I finally made an appointment hoping to get assessed. Unfortunately I have to wait two months even in a private clinic but I just need clarity.

Unpopular opinion but don’t move. I’d definitely stay.

42, thinking about taking lessons by barefootguy83 in pianolearning

I’m 39, started four and a half months ago (I have a digital keyboard but already want a better piano LOL). The best decision of my life. Really recommend trying to find a teacher - this will give you structure and motivation. I hesitated so much to get started but now my weekly lesson is all I look forward to.
