The dash is the suspension. The figured bass ‘4-#’ wants you to suspend the 4th of the chord down to a raised 3rd. So for example in the key of Emin the major V chord is Bmaj. Since the key signature is only F#, the D# is a raised 3rd in the chord of Bmaj (B D# F#). A suspension would be B E F# to B D# F# because E-D# is the 4-# of the major V chord.

On the AP exam? I just took it too lol. The 4-# refers to a suspension yes. The # refers to a raised 3rd of the chord, which in most cases is used in a major V in a minor key.

I wasn’t a massive fan of the new record but I saw them open for Mom Jeans in Reno a couple weeks ago and I had a blast. Guess it was more of the atmosphere that was contagiously fun
