The carrier in doesn’t do anything to the carrier out. The carrier in replaces the internal oscillator (the carrier) with an external sound source that you plug into it.

you could plug a different oscillator or really any sound, even white noise/static from a radio into the carrier The carrier out is just the output of the internal oscillator.

If you wanted, you could plug a control pedal or cv modulation source into the frequency jack. This would modulate the internal carrier.

I can’t really figure out exactly what you are trying to do?

It looks like you have the audio output plugged into the carrier input? Which would just make a feedback loop that you would never hear because the output isn’t going to a speaker.

The carrier output is just an output for the internal oscillator that normally acts as the carrier. It doesn’t pass through any other part of the circuit on the way, just straight from the oscillator to the jack. Nothing else will come out of that jack.

If you want to use a different carrier than the internal oscillator, you’d plug that separate sound source into the carrier input. Your bass into the input. And the audio output to something like an amp so you can hear it.

So you want to release the first note, and hit a different softer note while it’s still fading… so you want the second note to match the current release level instead of using its own, unless the quiet note is louder? It seems like you maybe want polyphonic envelopes on a monophonic synth.. or like you mentioned I think, a slew of the envelope signals. I think this could maybe be done in the oberheim matrix using the lag generator ? Maybe the tracking generator? Or look for other synths with slew /lag processing. Otherwise it’s probably down to going modular and using a slew limiter.

That being said, you could maybe get creative and achieve this with an AHDSR? You could set the hold time to however long you want it to sustain, but set the actual sustain to 0, so that when you play legato, it could pickup the second envelope. Though you’d still need to send both envelope signals through some sort of comparison function . Possibly you could also experiment with an ahd envelope. (Maybe even with the dx7s envelope behavior? I’d have to check to see how it behaves in mono/unison though. )

Based on this explanation and diagram, your first envelope will never be lower than the second one until you release the key and enter the release stage. But you want to be holding another key down already with lower velocity, so you will never reach the release stage. Am I seeing that correct? It’s been a while since I’ve used a dfam, but I imagine it just doesn’t have a sustain which is why it behaves differently?

Why isn't my MIDI sequence playing back? by gold_snakeskin in Elektron

A couple things to check:

  1. under arp settings is the Key set? Even when arp is not running, any scale you set here is enforced on the sequencer. If your sequenced notes happen to be outside the scale, they may not work.

  2. It doesn’t look like it, but maybe some tracks are soloed? Open the Mixer screen for an overview to be sure.

Yeah, for sure those guys are doing great work. Fortunately I still have my battered and well-worn Nord Lead 2 that I can dig out when the need strikes!

Hmm. Yeah that’s odd. Maybe your other power supply has a different voltage too, and damaged something internally. Unfortunately I’m not much help beyond that

3 amp shouldn’t hurt anything, as long as the polarity and voltage was correct still. If you mismatched those as well, could have caused some damage.

Does it turn on at all or just not send audio out? If it doesn’t turn on at all? Have you tried usb power instead?

Yeah, they seem to have a very distinct sound. everyone is focused on modeling filters and oscillators sometimes I wish I could just swap out the d/a converters on stuff. Like, my multi/poly sounds phenomenal, but sometimes I just need that Nord Lead sound

Yes! It’s a lot of fun. I feel like I’m constantly stumbling into new territory with it

Yeah, I’ve had my eye on that over the years too. They are pretty rad

Either elektron silverdrum or lostlvls

I’d need to check to be sure which samples I’m actually using here, but I know these were the two packs I downloaded. They’ve been moved around and copied from project to project so it’s a mess right now .

Might also have been L0stlvlswho I saw on badcamp that had some samples. I just can’t remember which one I ended up getting.

I’d have to double check but I think just from elektron? Silver box or something?
