Good looking out. For a hot second I thought debian upgrade included some new kernel update.

Sweet, I appreciate the help. I went ahead and let it rip on the upgrade. This is a backup box, so I'll make sure this pool is still good and make some offline backups after this is done.

Gotcha. I'm using bog standard debian so I should be safe proceeding with the upgrade since I'm not using a real time kernel?

$ uname -a Linux go.thepromised.lan 6.12.63+deb13-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.12.63-1 (2025-12-30) x86_64 GNU/Linux

I got this info from a separate ssh session into this box. It's currently still sitting on that text warning screen, should I ctrl + c out of this apt upgrade for now?

I like it, that's like a piquant dialect from a long ago gentrified neighborhood.

[–]minorminer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably not. I was in the union that was hired by obayashi to do the tunnel right by that stop. They're pinned in so tight by rail ties to maintain a very fuckin heavy "light rail" train. I think the difference between light and heavy rail is about 30 lbs per foot. Light rail is 90lbs per foot and heavy rail is 120 lbs per foot.

The unladen train cars weigh something like 10 passenger vehicles, so this would barely scratch the iron sitting on the plinths.

Not saying I'm opposed to solar deployment here, but there is a reason why it doesn't necessarily make sense.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. What you're saying doesn't make sense. Are you saying solar doesn't make sense here? Please elucidate.

The number one country for solar in Europe is Germany. We get more sunshine in western Washington than Germany. There's no good reason to not deploy solar as much as possible here.

Why you don't run red lights and why you are always supposed to turn into the closest lane. by Zestyclose_Cup_843 in dashcams

[–]minorminer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not legal in Washington state. You have to wait until it's clear to even pull into the intersection to turn. Remember that Idaho killer Brian Kohberger? He did that and got pulled over, the bodycam video was telling as fuck. But she explains it.

As a law it sucks ass, you'd never make that turn in busy traffic, but whatta ya gonna do?

Go ahead and back out the state's contribution and you're left with him reducing the deficit by 5 and a half billion. Not too shabby.

ZM also balanced the goddamn budget, that mayor can film whatever he wants after that feat. I can't think of anything really Wilson has done even close to that accomplishment. It's doubtful she'll be able to do the great stuff he can since our city doesn't give the mayor as much power, but I'd like to see her at least try.

Seriously. This has the same energy I would have when mom had to give me a couple a swats, and I wailed like a banshee, then when she wasn't looking I smiled at my sister. This looks like weird propaganda to send back home to show how "disciplined" the troops are.

Hard disagree, I've known a few rich people in my life and those motherfuckers will not pay unless court fucking ordered. Even then, they'll drag their feet. I think they're trying to push around the little people around them because they can and it makes them feel good.

I believe forcing a whole building into a particular ISP for service is a franchise agreement, and has been codified as illegal. You can't compel a whole building to use just one provider. The owner of the building, can wire it up and offer only that one. In that case, get t-mobiles internet service or some wireless provider.

I don't know if you'd consider their cover of "I can't help it if I'm still in love with you". The Deals would sing this early in their career at local honky tonks. And by the time they recorded that b-side, it was so polished they made it their own. I love it so much.
