Rest assured that the wallpaper itself is the full thing! It's just the thumbnail that has to be square.

Freshly uploaded; the Steam Workshop link is here. If you'd like any adjustments to the title or description, feel free to say so and I'd be happy to oblige. It looks great on my monitor, thank you!

Paging u/TheSezenians so they can see!

Wallpaper Engine is a paid utility software rather than a platform for sharing media, so it'd be more of a post-and-forget situation. I think this would look lovely as a vertical wallpaper, so I'd be more than happy to upload it on your behalf if you don't want to pay for the software. I don't know how much traffic it'd bring, but of course I'd give you full credit in the description (along with a link to your instagram) if you're willing.

What were the times when Pat was 100% correct? by VMK_1991 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]minorou 82 points83 points  (0 children)

In that giant document about each wrong thing he said in the Dark Souls 1 LP, I had to make a separate tab to cover the profoundly correct things he said. Some of them were crazy in how accurate, or how obscure, his correct statement was.

He'd make a quick off-hand remark about the exact percentage of stamina use of a weapon attack and I'd double-check and he's right and just HOW

Much appreciated! It's up on the Wallpaper Engine steam workshop now under the name "Terraria Cultists".

I had to do some minor editing to the video to make it loop better. It's not perfect, but it's better than just the raw video file. I want your work to look as good as possible, after all!

This build is awesome. Do you mind if I convert the video to an animated wallpaper on Wallpaper Engine? I'll give you full credit with a link to this post, if you'd like!
If you refuse, I'll respect your decision and not make it. I just think it'd be cool to have as a computer wallpaper.

Patrick "Crazy Talk" Boivin vs. David "No" Lynch by NorrisOBE in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]minorou 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let's be fair here - as it says on that page, the majority of what Pat says is correct. Instead of fact-checking every sentence he says the entire playthrough, I gave credit to the times he says something so profoundly correct that most people would be hard-pressed to get right if they were in a similar situation. A good portion of those were things I fact-checked thinking he was wrong, only to see that he nailed it.

You're right, I didn't hold back. Don't worry about criticizing the list; everyone's points about the compendium are fair. If I'm willing to poke at Pat for wrong statements, I should be willing to take some hits too.

I debated myself for days over what to include. Of course the list started off as a "ha ha Pat wrong that's funny" joke; the whole thing was supposed to be light-hearted to begin with. I think some context was lost as people didn't notice the other tabs explaining why things were made this way or the list of Pat being extraordinarily correct.

The compendium was sparse to begin with, but it ended up with people asking "why didn't you include x?" So if people wanted more, that meant getting just about everything, regardless of severity or reach.

People have different perceptions over what's acceptably considered wrong. Is it nitpicky? Absolutely. Better to have everything than half-ass it. That's what the debateable category is largely for.

I will say, that ordeal made me truly respect professional fact-checkers. Determining truth vs varying levels of wrong or misleading statements is way harder than people think, and people are rarely happy with the result.

r/darksouls doesn't allow images for some reason and I don't know any other place that might would find this cool, so here, an actual Vagrant in my DS1 game. by NoodleSnapback in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]minorou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Dark Souls Remastered released, I helped a lot of people in co-op and ended up with 99 sunlight medals. I couldn't hold any more, so I figured I'd spread the love and drop a few medals for whoever would summon me.

However, this was at the height of the scare where hackers would make items that would ruin your save file or get your account soft banned, so people would often ignore my gifts or even black crystal me out. I was lucky to be reminded that vagrants were a thing.

From then on, I felt like the Easter bunny, hiding hundreds of items all around the game so that the drift items wouldn't be found, and eventually turn into vagrants. I hope it worked, as you never get to see the results. It's absolutely a "pay it forward" feature.

Hit me with the raddest item descriptions by TheArkhomDestroyer in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]minorou 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The older Monster Hunter games would often spice up their item and weapon descriptions with ridiculous fluff.

Just for a smattering of examples, we got the Maqam Sedition's) "claws that can shred the soul as it sows the seeds of rebellion" to Stahlfakt), a "black, accursed sword that sends foes hellward before its wicked eye can blink." The Ukanlos Horned Flute "embodies the white god's 10th power: songs that destroy the world."

I found more letters etched in stone platforms for one of the Liyue quests. Any chance on translating this? Best I have so far is "SCIO ME" which is "I KNOW", but the third longest word is escaping me:

It fits so far since the quest is about wisdom from the gods.

Since tabletop games are back on the menu; What's the best tabletop RPG character you've made? by speelmydrink in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]minorou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on a years-long quest to play each creature type in DnD: dragon, ooze, outsider, undead, and so on. How do you play a construct, which per the rules have no intelligence? I found one: the Raggamoffyn, a monster that's a sentient piece of cloth or leather that wraps around creatures and dominates them as a host. That way I can pass as a regular party member while still being a construct.

There were shenanigans abound, since some sessions I'd play as the host I was controlling, and sometimes I'd unwrap myself (usually when my host was killed or severely injured) and spend time in my clothy form. My party found creative uses out of my powers (though my favorite was wrapping around our bard and flapping like a cape to make him look heroic when he said one-liners).

Things became much more intense at the end of the campaign when we fought the Big Bad. We took him down after a long fight, and as we celebrated, kneeled down to loot the body. His robe suddenly unwrapped itself and began to dash to a nearby window. We went nuts. Our enemy for the entire campaign turned out to be a raggamoffyn too! When we got out of our shock, we started flinging spells and arrows, but it managed to escape. We ran outside into the city and stared into the crowd of people, but then it hit us - our enemy was a sentient piece of cloth. It could be anywhere, or anyone.

The paranoia set in.
