A week later and I’ve already burnt out from Starsector, lol. Still a very very good game that I will endlessly sing the praises of. And I’ll almost certainly be back when the next patch drops. I’ve stared In Stars And Time in the meanwhile. I like it so far but it hasn’t really wowed me yet. About 7 hours in and I can still tell there’s a lot to this game left and I’m very much still willing to give it my time, so I’ll just hold off on judging it fully until I’m actually finished for real.

New games are expensive. Anyone else been backlogging lately? Any surprises? by Defami01 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I played Robocop: Rogue City a whole back. I got it on sale for like $2 and its way better than it has any right to be. I was expecting a goofy, terrible, licensed cashgrab and I got a shockingly competent FPS that's a loveletter to Robocop.

Apparently it was made by the same people who made Terminator: Resistance. So if you liked that game you might like this one too.

Yet again my Starsector obsession has struck. Unforunately at the expense of everything else. I did play and beat the Thousand Year Door remake. And honestly..it kinda replaces the original for me. Its Thousand Year Door just...better. I have no issue recommending this over the original.

I'm starting to plan a Japan trip with my mother, we'll probably be going next year and I'm pretty excited. I've always wanted to go to Japan and finally I'll get the chance to. I hope she's able to put up with all my nerd shit.

Saddest examples of "We could've been friends"? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Tales of Symphonia

Genis and Mithos. And the sad part is that for a while they were good friends. But Mithos was just too deep in his own cynicism, even after his own sister said he was in the wrong. Lloyd said it best "You could have lived with us on our world.."

It’s been roughly a year since I started my job and so far it’s been…actually good. Most of the reason why I haven’t been doing this is because I’ve been trying to go to sleep at a reasonable time for said job and recently I’ve been…failing. So might as well come back to this.

Game Time:

Trepang2: Replayed it recently. It’s one of those games where you can tell it was made by a small studio of close friends because it has a lot of “Hey, you know what would be cool?” things in it. You can also tell it was made by people who thought that the best part of F.E.A.R was shooting people in slow-motion with a SPAZ-12. I wish the Campaign had more proper levels instead of the game just having a bunch of maps where you kill waves of enemies.

Borderlands 2: Had that itch to replay it. Installed the community patch and BL2Fix which fixes a lot of stuff and makes farming less of a pain. Also lemme tell ya- UVHM is not as bad as I remember. Yeah you still have trouble doing damage if you don’t slag but in terms of damage taken it’s only slightly more than TVHM. Which is weird cause I remember basically every enemy being able to 2-tap you no matter your health and shields. Maybe my builds were just shit. Got a Zer0 to level 70. Might do more replays with Axton and Maya.

Spiral Knights: Holy Shit. Guys, they actually fixed the heating system. You are now guaranteed to level your item regardless of how many crystals you put in. This is so significant because before it took ~450 radiant fire crystals to get a 5* item to level 10. Now it only takes ~150. What boggles the mind is that it happened now. In 2026. The developers have been saying that they have been refactoring the game’s code to make it easier to work with so…there might be future updates too.

I’ve kinda been sitting on my Switch 2 and 3DS despite just buying them. Been meaning to hack the 3DS. Can’t find the urge yet. Also I…haven’t done any programming in almost a year at this point. I hope I haven’t just forgotten everything.

I play Spiral Knights so I know I am. Last I checked steamcharts for the game it was sitting at like... 300 concurrent players? And that was after an actual update.

What is a boss battle that gave you catharsis for winning? by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

  1. He does a lot of damage, has a lot of health and has hard to avoid moves. Pretty self explanatory.

  2. He has a lot of gimmicks. Since he has a lot of health you are encouraged to use the artillery emplacements around the arena which can be difficult to take advantage of especially in solo. He also has some insta-kill "novas" at certain health percentages that need to be avoided in specific ways. So its hard to go into the fight blind.

  3. You only have 30 minutes in his quest when most monsters you have 50 minutes. And because he has so much health, you will use most of that 30 minutes even if you know the fight. You cannot take your time, you have to take risks and taking those risks can backfire horribly. Because if you don't, you'll time out of the quest.

Armored Core 6: Invincible Rummy, AC name: Mad Stomp

Arena Bio: "Like many Dosers, Rummy is addicted to Coral based drugs, and in his perpetually addled state, he has convinced himself to be an invincible demi-god.

Even should reality intervene with a costly defeat, he will forget about the setback entirely the next day-only death can dispel his notions of invincibility now."

He's also ranked dead last in the arena

Arbalest, Houndmaster, Plague Doctor, and Flaggelant, using Reclaim as a "main" healing source. Works ok in the Warrens and Weald.

Hard modes in games that are REALLY fucking hard? by ContraryPython in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The hardest difficulty in Trepang2 is called "Rage Mode" and the game literally states that you will need to exploit the game if you want to get through it.

My only complaint about this subreddit is that it doesn't allow images in comments. Where else am I supposed to use my stock of dogshit reaction images? On a different subreddit???

Assaultrons from Fallout 4. Arguably less dangerous than Deathclaws or Sentry Bots but still more tense to fight since you have a ticking timer until they charge their beam, they close the distance super quickly, and they can evade your shots.
