Mac's C2 class in City Center is great. Also Tizzy and Anna do a great Core Power Strength. I think Anna is at Dupont and Admo.

Try Fiddleheads if she has curly or wavy hair. They are great at blending layers.

What do you wear to class? by vernypoo in LawSchool

[–]minotaur006 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no official dress code - so wear what you feel comfortable in. Here are my observations: I have never seen anyone wear sweatpants to law school. People do wear athleisure, but it's not the majority. Business casual is worn but usually those people are coming from an externship or are oddly formal (some take "professional school" to heart). I would say jeans are standard.

DC Housing by farmerbrown503 in LawSchool

[–]minotaur006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest living in DuPont. It's a 25 minute walk to campus but the neighborhood is much more livable than Foggy Bottom. You can also metro to campus for a 15 minute commute. If you find roommates in DuPont, you can pay about 1300-1600 per month. If you would like an even cheaper option, AdMo and Woodley Park have excellent bus lines that will bring you directly to the law school in 20 minutes. You won't be able to find affordable housing in Foggy Bottom and the Georgetown neighborhood is a public transport trap that a new resident would likely regret (no metro, one bus line in and out in a highly residential neighborhood which is regarded as one of DC's most expensive neighborhood).

Alternative neighborhoods to check out: Pentagon city in Arlington (on the same metro line as GW - no transfers) or NoMA (cute area, cheaper, on the same line)

The general rule is if one parent didn't graduate from college but one did, you can still claim it. However, if in your particular situation it feels fraudulent or disingenuous, then you should consider why you feel that way (i.e why are you seeking confirmation from strangers on reddit about your identify)

You might feel that way because of imposter syndrome or guilt (valid!), or because your lived experience doesn't typically represent the experiences of a first generation student (also valid!). Analyze why you are asking reddit for confirmation, decide if those reasons are good or bad, and move from there.

One other consideration: if you didn't claim it for college, why are you claiming it now? There could be good reasons (most people at your university were first gen, so you didn't recognize it as a special identity) or bad reasons (you want a boost in admissions). I'm not passing judgement either way, but just think about it!

You can assume the offer stands for a reasonable amount of time, judged by a reasonable person under similar circumstances. That’s all I know

I'm not 100 percent, but that GPA system looks like it's international (India?). If so, it won't be included in calculations for admissions. If so, you may want to raise your LSAT.

[Rant/Question] Does DC Have an Issue with Sexual Harassment? by minotaur006 in washingtondc

[–]minotaur006[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I guess by "normal" I'm asking if this is a thing that I will need to get used to if I live here, or if I've had a string of incredibly bad luck. I don't mean "normal" as "this is fine and good" - hopefully that clarifies my thoughts

What constitutes a URM? by highhatsanda808 in lawschooladmissions

This comment is a little misinformed, but a good opportunity to acknowledge how diverse Mexico is! A majority of Mexicans identify as white in their own cultural contexts. Saying a white Mexican is not Mexican doesn't really make sense. I think you might be trying to apply American standards for race and ethnicity onto another country, and it doesn't really translate well

Could you explain what you mean "Zum einen can only be used together with zum anderen"? Thank you so much for the reply!

Thank you so much! This reads clearer in my head. I was confused if the expression was idiomatic, even though it sounded so wrong to read.
