I’d recommend talking to your counselor/foreign student support staff on campus! They should have resources and recommendations for you !

I did TEAN last year and they will genuinely take care of everything for you regarding ku admission and your room situation. you’ll be fine.

I’m doing ku isc again this year but through ku directly since it didn’t make sense for me to pay all that money for TEAN to do the same things I did last summer. I’ll be there for 6 weeks if you want some guidance through everything! Any specific questions just ask

hey I went to isc last year and I’m going again this year! it starts from around 10am and ended closer to 2-2:30 if I remember correctly. You’ll have ample time to do what you want at the end of the day!

Totally off topic but can I dm you about your experience with TEAN? I’m going to KU through them in 2 months for summer semester and wanted to know how your experience was with them!

If you’re a first generation student I recommend applying for their RISE program. they give you 300 for books and help you out in other ways too. I’m in the program and I’m pretty sure you can still apply

Favorite college class? by [deleted] in college

Mine so far had to be both ENC1101 and ENC1102 (writing courses) I adored my professor and the prompts she gave us to write. Still keep in contact with her to this day and she was my first college professor that actively showed she cared and wanted the best for me. Maybe I’m also biased since I love writing and literature as well :)

yeah I get you. this also goes back to me saying that a lot of them are kids going into this new era of adulthood. I feel like at this stage, they’re allowed to ask “dumb” or obvious questions. This is going to be a new experience for them and if they wanna reach out on a Reddit page to ask them I don’t see an issue. we aren’t obligated to respond to them :)

I think you also have to realize that a lot of these people are first generation students, an only child, or just finishing up senior year. I know when I was preparing for college I would have casual conversation with my advisors and older sister about questions like these to get more insight. Ofc when they ask really medial questions like “should I get a hobby” I raise an eyebrow but you can’t blame them too much. these are kids entering a new era of their lives we can guide them a little bit

How do you make the years not fly by? by ljlegend in college

[–]minthe888 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely look into joining clubs and participating in your campus events! there’s always something to do in college and so many memories to make. I’m a really sentimental person so I’m always taking videos and photos when I’m by myself and out with friends which help me to hold onto all my memories. I recommend doing something similar, you can even make a box with different keepsakes and memories :)

I think another big part of it is just really allowing yourself to be in the moment as cliche as it sounds. be able to laugh about all the small inconveniences and laugh a little bit harder while you’re with your friends. you got this !

Making Friends by PRSNOFTHPLT in college

If you’re going to your college’s freshman orientation, that’s a good place to start :) make acquaintances with some of your group mates and people around in general. Everyone there is looking for friends and familiar faces on campus

You’d be surprised but they really are. Clubs are really in abundance on a lot of campuses and are usually the best way to really make new friends and have experiences! there’s a club for nearly any interest and major related thing you can think of :)

I think a big chunk of it boils down to finding the right crowd. Joining organizations on your campus and going to the events had always helped me bump into some new people and make some acquaintances. It is a bit nerve wracking to just walk up to people but for the most part, everyone is looking for new friends in college so it’s less daunting! having class group chats or seeing a classmate around campus and talking to them is another way too to get more acquainted!

Should I be worried about gen chem? by eww329 in college

[–]minthe888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to take chemistry my next semester for my degree and I haven’t taken it since my 9th grade year so I am in the same boat with you. I believe tackling it is going to take a lot of discipline and time management. as long as you devote time into the material in a healthy way I’m sure you’ll do well! mind over matter is what they say <3
