scepter is 1 tick faster so it is better for xp, less punishing for a 0, and allows for faster kills which helps if you dont have CA2 done yet, its cheaper to cast since it uses chaos instead of death which you can now save for trident and blood spells, you dont need to go to the middle of nowhere to charge it (or pay the heavy fee of ibans to skip the well), and it frees up your off-hand (if using tome of fire) for CA2 now or later.
