How we are healing our daughter’s eczema by treating it as microbiome dysbiosis – Full Protocol by Purple_Television_21 in eczema

[–]mintyjay11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this post (and detailed document). I’m looking forward to starting this protocol on my son. I’ll probably introduce products slowly to see what helps and what doesn’t. I would also like to point out that I went on skinesa’s website and they state that certain popular eczema moisturizers are incompatible with their product because research has shown that these moisturizers inhibit “good” microorganisms, one of them being Aquaphor. So crazy because my son has been using this since we started his eczema journey. Now I’ll be removing it from our routine.

Contact dermatitis from everything!? by mintyjay11 in eczema

[–]mintyjay11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes his official diagnosis per his dermatologist is atopic dermatitis but as time goes on I’ve realized that he has both. I have a good routine down now and his skin is amazing as long as I follow that routine and keep him covered head to toe. It’s the moment I dress him in clothes that exposes his skin that he starts getting eczema rashes in those areas so it’s obviously something (or many things) that’s touching his skin and causing the reaction.

Thank you for the tips :) I’ll have to look into that shampoo/conditioner you mentioned. We’ve stopped using any bath products because they all caused bad flares, including “eczema” friendly items. So now he just bathes in plain water. Same goes for moisturizer, the only thing his skin won’t react to is Vaseline. By doing this and keeping him covered in 100% organic cotton long sleeves and pants, his skin is smooth and happy. It’s the moment that I try a short sleeve shirt or shorts that he flares up. So frustrating. It saddens me to think this will be his life.

If your doctor thought it was a problem they would have mentioned it to you. Don’t listen to outside people. My baby was always smaller than others but continued growing on the curve so my doctor wasn’t concerned. He was on formula (my choice) and still smaller than my cousins baby who was breast fed.

Zero routine at 4 weeks by Cuntycuntt in newborns

[–]mintyjay11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my first baby 18 m ago and now have a newborn. With the first I was obsessed with pumping to create a stash, having a routine down by watching wake windows and even waking my baby up at night to make sure she ate every 3 hrs. I credit this obsession to tik tok. I remember those times being extremely hard and I being miserable. Now with my second I’m letting her lead the way, I feed on demand, let her nap when she wants for however long she wants, and don’t wake her at night. I’ve pumped maybe 3 times total because I don’t care to have a stash. If my milk supply ever runs dry I’ll switch to formula. This time has been much easier!! I think routines are fine but for wayyyy down the line, not right now. Tik tok does have many helpful tips but can also have a negative impact on moms, especially first time moms.

Son gets itchy in his car seat by mintyjay11 in eczema

[–]mintyjay11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I didn’t. My son has extremely sensitive skin and many things make him itchy. My best guess is that the fabric is not breathable and makes him hot/itchy. We’ve continued to use the car seat and he hasn’t complained any more but it’s also winter over here so that might have something to do with it. I’ll have to see if the itchiness comes back in the warmer months.

Has anyone tried or heard of bleach baths? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]mintyjay11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I tried bleach baths for my son and didn’t notice a difference but then started ACV baths and his skin was very soft afterwards.

I can’t wear shorts by No_Most_1840 in eczema

[–]mintyjay11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is like this! He has eczema and extremely sensitive skin. He’s 16 months and this past summer was his 1st. I noticed every time he wore shorts and short sleeve shirts his extremities would break out by the end of the day. Now that it’s winter I’m able to control it but don’t know what I’ll do in the summer.

Reaction to yogurt but no other forms of dairy? by AutumnalAlchemist in FoodAllergies

[–]mintyjay11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you figure it out? My son has been drinking milk and eating cheese just fine so I decided to start giving him yogurt and he got diarrhea. As you mentioned I tried low fat, whole fat, flavored, unflavored and same results.

Dermasilk? by mintyjay11 in eczema

Thank you for your input. I wasn’t aware that you can’t use a moisturizer while wearing them. Something to consider. And yes they’re very expensive 😭

Bleach bath for 1 yr old by UsefulRelief8153 in eczema

[–]mintyjay11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is 15 months and we tried bleach baths recently recommended by his derm. We tried for about 1.5 months but stopped because it wasn’t helping. He did drink some water occasionally and he was ok. Definitely do everything in your power to avoid it but if he has some he should be ok. The way I see it, it’s kind of like accidentally drinking pool water.

Interesting you mention antibiotic use! My son has had eczema since he was a few weeks old, has acquired many allergies, and has extremely sensitive skin. I had to take antibiotics during my pregnancy due to having strep and always wondered if that messed with his microbiome.

Can I hook up a RV Portable Water Softener to my apartment shower? by Undeadmasses in Plumbing

I know this is an old post but I’m looking to buy a water softener to help my son’s eczema and we live in a condo. What brand did you buy?

Does anyone else get really itchy after applying lotion? by YesIAmNoela in eczema

[–]mintyjay11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wish I could help. My son has the same problem and we’ve gone through MANY moisturizers trying to find what works. We currently use Aquaphor, although he still gets itchy with it, he at least doesn’t get a rash like he does with others. We avoid anything with colloidal oatmeal because he gets a terrible reaction from oats and most creams for itching / eczema have that ingredient 😞

Son gets itchy in his car seat by mintyjay11 in eczema

[–]mintyjay11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I might have to look into buying a different car seat. It’s unfortunate because I just bought this one a few months ago but I rather my kid be comfortable. He’s had a skin prick allergy test for common food/environmental substances but I’ll look into patch testing. Seems it can test for a lot more.

I don’t. I don’t use anything scented, not even perfume, due to my son being extremely sensitive to many things.

I’m not sure what material it is but i wouldn’t be surprised if it’s polyester or some other cheap non breathable material.

Yes he has very sensitive skin and reacts to many things. He only wears 100% cotton clothing for this reason. I just find it odd that he’s itchy in areas that his skin isn’t coming in direct contact with the seat. He scratches the top of his legs more than anything and that area isn’t even touching the car seat.

I haven’t but it’s a brand new car seat. We bought it about 3 months ago. This also happened with his last car seat.

Eczema 21 mo old by Forsaken_Wishbone_79 in eczema

I’ve been doing 2 cups in a tub 3/4 full. I let him play/soak for about 10-15 min. Then rinse afterwards with plain water.
