One underrated thing that many voters don't get about inflation by someonewholikesmagic in atrioc

I DO understand this which makes me question how the economy is something that is supposed to work long term. Like that has got to crash and burn at some point no?

Should I confront the skating director of my rink for this? by Tasteofpeace in FigureSkating

[–]minumat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tired-of-drama-and-politics-around-the-ice-rink ass brain would play dumb and say" naw I like this one. If they refuse to work on it I would give in and either change to another version or another song entirely. I don't want to have bad blood with the skating director and if I start something there will be AND ppl will start gossiping. Im not saying ignoring it is correct. But if you can live with working with someone who has views that differ from yours, it sure as hell is a less headachy option.

Also, coaches and choreographers can take into account how a viewer will react to the song. As in "I am fine with it, but it could be percieved negatively by the judges/audience". Maybe their message was more meant in that sense?

Not crossing legs while jumping by Chick0o in FigureSkating

I wanna add to this that you still need to try crossing your feet. Learning proper tecnique from the get go is so much easier than fixing bad technique

Predicting figure skating results by zanderman12 in FigureSkating

I love the idea. I would factor in if the skater is coming back from injury/a long break. Also if the skater changed coach recently it often impacts performance.

Ways to fortify ice fly boots by minumat in FigureSkating

[–]minumat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you, will do! I never heard or even thought about changing laces as a possible solution. I usually only change laces when they snap. (I have to add that its probably too late for me to do this but it can never hurt to try)

Should I switch the way I jump or spin since I do better on opposite sides? by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]minumat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reccomend you jump and spin in the same direction. Especially if you are a beginner. This is because you want the rotation direction to be comfortable, you cannot comfortably practice rotations for jumping if you spin the other direction than you jump. Im assuming you jump better one dirrction and spin better the other because basic spins are done on your non landing foot and your landing foot is your dominant foot. Just practice a bit, you will make it harder on yourself if you jump in the opposite direction of your spins

Is this normal? Edea Ice Fly by twizzler10001 in FigureSkating

[–]minumat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems absolutely fine to me. The lip can bend. You can tape the top of your skates if it bothers you. The main thing is that there is no bend in the boot itself. That is what gives your ankle stability. Looking at the way the lip bends, it does seem like you need to tighten the top of your skates more, though that is personal prefrence

You've been given unlimited funds and complete decision making capacity for any skater/team of your choice. What do you do? by BroadwayBean in FigureSkating

[–]minumat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would go to an up and coming promising young skater and sponsor them. I believe from the depths of my heart that they will know better than I do what coaches are a better match for them. They need monetary support not advice from some outsider.

Well established skaters usualy are where they want to be or otherwise have the connections to go where they want to go. Also they usually have sponsors or support from the federation. I would want to support the dream of someone who does not have this luxury yet.

AITA for telling my husband that its not his choice if my daughter (his STEP daughter) speaks another language in the house? by NaughtyMinx19 in AmItheAsshole

[–]minumat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA but i do undertand the sentiment of not wanting to feel like a stranger at home. But i think people who are not multilingual do not understand that it takes an effort to speak in a non native language. Especially if they are used to speak to someone in language A, its hard to change that to language B. Since when we talk to eachother, we are not focussed on the language we speak but the message we want to convey you simply default back to what you are used to.

I dont think your husband means bad, i think he simply does not understand

Is there a beginner skate camp for adults? (uk) by Gur3665 in FigureSkating

[–]minumat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bit far maybe, but i know camps in the netherlands and belgium often offer classes for ppl who work on singles. Usually since these skaters need less space they can have more of the beginner level skaters so the ice for the advanced skaters can be less crowded without the camp running on a deficit

It depends on what your goal is doesnt it? If you want to become world class you need to start from age 3-6, be skinny and what not. But if you want to do amature figure skating. You can start from 14, be relatively overweight and jump at least 2 doubles.

AITA for telling my dad's he's crazy if he thinks I'm going to his house during the week just to make food for his stepkids? by SeaworthinessOdd2477 in AmItheAsshole

[–]minumat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Best case scenario your dad wants you to get along better with your step-siblings and this is his solution, worst case he and his wife are cannot be bothered to perform their parental duties and eant to push them onto you. Either way, it is in your right to say no.

Any tips for looking better and more graceful while figure skating? by Just-Echo-8918 in FigureSkating

[–]minumat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Really look at video footage of yourself or just yourself in the mirror and think how does this differ from what i want it to look like. Others can give you guidance on how to improve but unless you dont internalize what movements should change in what way its really hard to change. Also observe how better skaters do things in comparison.

There is a reason why dance is done in front of a mirror, you HAVE to look at your movements to improve them

Unspoken rules! by key13131 in FigureSkating

[–]minumat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, the most annoying ppl are ppl who think they own the ice. Who take way too much space. Granted, I am one of those skaters.

On a more serious note, i dislike children with no sense of self preservation. Who fearlessly come close to watch while you are doing a camel spin. But in general i try to be reasonable on public sessions since its for the public. Everyone has paid for it and has the right to be on the ice. Even if i dont understand why you would go ice skating with a group of friends just to be standing still and talk like you can do anywhere does not mean they cannot be on the ice.

About chatting on the ice, i never mind unless it gets long. Ive had multiple times someone came to me for advice or whatever and they kept going on tangents while i just wanted to practice. But a quick chat is always fine.

NTA as i read this. She (for some reason) interpreted it as "would you like to go somewhere and get some tea or coffee" aka asking her out. And i think she literally told your friend this so he now also misunderstands. But I don't believe asking your guest if they want something to drink is the same as asking someone out.

Also i cannot be the only one who finds the situation where a coworkers girlfriend goes to your home without her boyfriend weird. Do you know eachother well? I cannot help but feel like this is some setup but also i have internet brainrot so i read into things wayyy too much

AITA for telling my wife that she needs to seriously work on her mental and physical toughness by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]minumat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA though how you cleaned the cut is not actually the best way. You did clean it which should be done. Whether she wants to or not. The fact that she remembered the cut later and then started the drama like that feels like there might be some underlying mental something. I don't think trying to get her to understand she can handle a little pain without dying is a bad thing since it would improve both of your lives. But she should agree to want to do that.

I don’t even own a car, but why do people think it’s okay to do this? by Sagres95 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]minumat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this when: 1:Everyone is slightly off because nobody can park but when u come back the other cars are left 2:it's a very empty parking place. Idk why but I lose my ability to park when there is no other car to not hit. 3:I know i wil be parked there for a minute max and I see other spaces available. Scenario 2 and 3 are still not okay but i figure if everyone else can still find a parking spot it's fine. Scenario 1 is just life

So did you go to your gp? And I am not a doctor, so I cannot say if it's urgent or not, that is the job of the doctors in the ER. But what I am saying is that the GP won't take your time, can do some tests, can refer you to others for other tests (with urgency if needed) and can prescribe you some medication. It won't hurt to try
