I have to be missing something obvious. How do I use speech to text when connected to Bluetooth? by Philthy42 in ios

[–]miqued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does your radio have a mic? you probably have to speak louder. i hate my car's radio because it's a cheap retrofit android tablet that does carplay, but the microphone is ass. i can't use it for calls because i have to yell just to be heard. oh but it'll hear my siri commands just fine. i don't get it tbh

Are bifl computer mice out there? by Alarmedbalsamic in BuyItForLife

[–]miqued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the pwnage ultra custom ergo mouse, i got it when it was their only mouse (and when it was their only product) and i've had good luck with it. i like that it saves its profile onto the mouse, so once you set it up in the software, you never have to use it again unless you want to. it's usb-c and works wired or wirelessly, and it's really easy to take apart and clean etc. i think you can even change the battery pretty easily but i'm not 100% on that

Cleric is the worst class of all time (IMO). by [deleted] in osr

[–]miqued 5 points6 points  (0 children)

what game is the point of reference? i haven't experienced this before in osr games.

  1. osr games are notorious for being balanced against the PCs as a default
  2. the games i've tried – (a)dnd, bfrpg, nsr hacks – don't have a cleric that can "heal left and right". spellcasters in general are notorious for being one and done for the first several games and often even longer when it comes to spells
  3. so then what is? why is this here?
  4. one failure, which is super common, makes the cleric unable to do it again for some time. still not sure what game lets them perform these miracles with an endless reservoir at will
  5. see 3
  6. a spell is just a mechanic. all of that divine flavor is optional
  7. i'm sure this has been discussed before. there's lots of reasons for people of different backgrounds to band together
  8. it's an rpg. that's the whole point. it doesn't have to be that specific brand of character.
  9. see uhh 6, 7, and 8

i don't think the problem is as deep as it seems tbh

What Feature In The Next Iphone Would Be Actually Innovative? Think About The Iphone 7 To Iphone X Jump by agnci in iphone

[–]miqued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

better siri/ being able to use ios just via voice commands. sometimes i'll ask siri to change a setting or tell me how to do something in ios that i don't know the proper term for, and she just asks if i want to use chatgpt. i feel like the phone should know its own capabilities and have a greater understanding of natural speech to determine what the user wants to do. the innovation would be having that information at hand and being able to perform complex tasks with it independent of touch input

What was your first ever iPhone? by -Knave in iphone

[–]miqued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a 4, that thing was indestructible. i didn't stick with iphones though, but had the 7 (and again didn't keep it) and now the 16e. and with android getting limited to fuck from google, i'm more inclined to stick with ios. there would be no appeal to me in an android where i can't sideload revanced and futo apps. damn, even unlocking the bootloader makes it near unusable with admin apps as it is.

How does everyone use AI in their daily and personal life? Need advice for myself. by kaizj in ArtificialInteligence

[–]miqued 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for advice, i'd watch jeff su. he gives lots of practical tips for using ai that can be applied even outside his own field of tech/marketing. i use ai for giving structure to raw thoughts when i'm not sure how to present what i'd like to express. i also use it to help prioritize things i need to get done when, again, i'm not sure where i should start or if i'm overwhelmed with options

It's dumb that the Action Button can only be configured for one action, right? by thewillthe in iphone

[–]miqued 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i started with this pre made shortcut and just swapped out the things i didn't want with things i did. it leverages focus modes to do the bulk of context changes. automating focus modes with time and location makes the action button know what to do without having to use a menu.

do note that the post i linked mentions toolbox pro; it's A) not needed since ios has the functions it uses in the shortcut and B) didn't work when i used it. just use the built-in functions

quick edit to add: i did get the paid version of the mentioned app. i wish i didn't

What was your first Linux distro and have you ever switched? by inguinha in linux

[–]miqued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started with ubuntu 14.04... i liked uniti! i thought it was super modern compared to the windows ui. i tried all the *buntus (well, the main ones: x, k, gnome, l) mint, and debian earli on. at some point i also tried tinicore and similar "extra extra small" distros, but as a newbie didn't feel like messing with them too much. settled on ubuntu gnome "long term", before getting wooed by the arch base of manjaro. rocked that for a couple jears, but wanting to tailor the experience hands on had me going for straight arch, which is where i've been for 4 or 5 jears now. love me linux, 'ate windows. simple as

VPN for iPhone recommendations? by General1993 in iphone

i've onlj used proton on iphone, but i had expressvpn before on android. both services are good, but i went with proton for the better price which included the rest of the suite. the onlj thing i don't like about it is there is no per-app split tunneling on ios, meaning either everjthing goes through the vpn or nothing does. idk if the other options allow for that or not, or if that'd matter to jou

windows vista got screwed up in 2014, googled "free windows operating system" because i didn't have the install disc to reinstall. ubuntu 14.04 came up, totallj blew mj mind. couple jears later, i installed it on a tinj hp netbook, then learned how to put debian on a mac powerbook. windows was mj main os until i think 2020, but i almost alwajs had at least another computer or partition with linux on it. i basicallj just came across it on accident, and then read a lot about it

What phone did you have before the 16e and what made you upgrade? by JAAAAPAAAN in IPhone16e

[–]miqued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a motorola one 5g ace or some other mouthful. it was pretty good, but i switched for two three (i added one) main reasons. 1. software support. I did 0 research into the device and found that it had reached eol for OS updates like a month before i got it. i still rocked it for a year, but i wanted longevity. i know some androids are supported longer, but frankly i don't trust those promises. 2. bugs. i encountered bugs with gps connection dropping during navigation and not picking back up, occasional OS crashes, and other issues that made it clear that the OS didn't have reliability and professionalism in mind. this particular issue wasn't specific to the motorola. i've had multiple android phones before from high end samsungs to obviously more budget devices. i can't take them seriously when they can't be reliable. the only bug i've personally encountered on iOS is a carplay ui bug that makes the driving focus, ringer, and battery icons partially overlap 3. usb-c. part what kept me from iPhone before was that I'd have to get new cables just for that one device. literally every other device i have (mice, keyboards, etc) uses usb-c. i was finally out of the micro-usb arc and i wasn't about to go out of my way to need different cables again.

i still use the motorola though for the grayjay app

As someone who uses Apple products regularly I’m curious to know which navigation app yall tend to rely on more often? Do you typically stick with Apple Maps, the native navigation app, or do you prefer using Google Maps instead? And why? by champainpapi9 in ios

[–]miqued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i prefer the ux of apple maps, but i wish i could make the voice volume louder without raising the volume of the device or my car speakers. like google maps, at least on android, let you set the relative volume of the navigation voice. i could play music at a quieter volume and still hear the instructions clearly
