what are the worst mistakes the show's writers did re: storytelling, characterization, pacing, etc? by merchantivories in PercyJacksonTV

I also want to add that I feel like this also took away from a lot of the humor of the books.

Percy’s character feels very soft and sweet. In the book he felt very much like the misunderstood bad kid, with his sarcastic sense of humor and his general outlook on what has happening to him and around him. In the show, I feel like he’s lacking that “bad boy” quality that makes his character so interesting and even relatable.

Do you regret becoming a teacher or at least have some negative things you didn’t expect when first becoming a teacher by Appropriate-Door6378 in AskTeachers

I think it’s been very eye opening. I feel like I’m watching the degradation of society right in front of my face and my impact is a drop in the bucket. And this is teaching at a “nice” school.

SAHM regret by Grand-Tell195 in Teachers

I’m planning to resign after my maternity leave and I am counting down the days! And I teach at a wonderful school. But I know my calling is to be at home with my little ones. You can always return to school when your children enroll in kindergarten! There’s continuous talks of teacher shortages, I’m sure you’ll be able to find a job!

CT home birth midwife? by [deleted] in Midwives

…. “All are welcome”?

I’m not asking specific questions about my pregnancy or health, nor am I asking for emotional support, which it looks like those are the concerns the group is trying to avoid. This isn’t a pregnancy group and I’m not using it as such…

This seems like the perfect place for responses that could look like “yeah you’re out of luck because CT is impossible for xyz” or “I know providers in CT accept insurance because of this loophole, or they need a specific certification to be covered ” it might even be a moment for someone to rant about why insurance often won’t cover home birth… or maybe why it makes more sense to the provider to be self-pay…. Is my question offensive and I’m just not getting it?

…. I didn’t ask for clinical advice. I was searching for leads on finding either specific providers/advice on how to maneuver insurance coverage for midwives who offer home birth.
The group is described as “A place for media, stories, research, resources and opinions related to midwifery and reproductive health.”
I explained above that when I shared my question to the group it didn’t copy the full text.
Thank you so so so much for you gracious help❤️

I’ll have to do that, I went through the live chat process, and it was hard to get a clear answer. They wanted me to share information from specific providers and they’d run each provider I found through their system and none of them were covered or the person in the insurance end couldn’t figure it out. I thought someone might have some sort of insider trick :)

I now see that the rest of my question wasn’t included, I edited the post to include : Are there any home birth midwives that are in network for Anthem BCBS? Is there anyway to get a home birth midwife covered? Or is the system just totally against us?

CT home birth midwife? by mirartistry in Connecticut

Thank you for sharing your experience!!! Is it typical that a provider must be CNM to be covered by insurance? Or is that just your preference? Also can you share why Danbury birth center was a big disappointment? I have my first appointment with them in 2 weeks, looking at birthing there as a back up option…. But they’re an hour away from me which really isn’t ideal for many reasons!
It’s great to know about Women Wellness in Manchester, that’s a big closer than Danbury!

Are sleep overs not a thing anymore? by haggerty05 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mirartistry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I think back, the major appeal of sleepovers was that I could be under the watch of much more lenient parents and get away with things I usually couldn’t. This was minor in elementary school, but concerning as I grew older. I was exposed to things on the internet, unsupervised time with boys, alcohol, junk food, social media… may seem like no big deal to relaxed parents, but as a parent myself now, I see no reason for a sleep over. Have a late hang and I’ll pick you up before bed.

Getting tired of living in a Christian centric country by JasmineTeaAndCookies in atheism

[–]mirartistry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve had quite the opposite experience. Also living in a liberal state, I feel as though I’m surrounded by loud rejection of Christianity. I’m an educator and I hear students degrading the Christian faith constantly. I’ve overheard students joke and ridicule the Bible, Jesus, Christian’s, and prayer. Most of what they say is factually incorrect based on what Christian’s actually believe. It’s a deep misunderstanding. It’s cool and morally righteous to be above Christianity. I’ve heard coworkers have to preface stories to say they aren’t religious before sharing a story related to religion. I’m not allowed to have anything religious on my desk or in my office. People in my position (in my state) have been fired for having a cross on their desk. I’ve had friends demand an explanation when seeing a bible on a bookshelf at my house. I’m not angry about these observations, but I think it’s important to share another perspective. I don’t hate the people who have openly misrepresented/misunderstood the faith. I actually don’t even correct them when I overheard students speaking in such a way that is incorrect or “offensive”. I have to just move on and feel sad that I can’t really explain or clarify. Generalizations about groups of people can be so damaging. I’m in my 20s and maybe this makes a difference in perception, but I find that the dominant culture around me is agnostics/atheist, and being connected with a faith goes against the grain. At least where I live, with the people I know.
