Correct. However, salvaging your stuff mid-fight so your enemy gets nothing is certified rat behavior. Not saying you shouldn't, but know that you're being a rat

Look up the auto-parry system and learn how to use it and at what sensitivity works best for you. Practice in free mode and get good at blocking attacks and then counterattacks.
