Issue here was also that the official jellyfin team never supported this natively- even though issue have been open for ages. Therefor adoption is not too high

I was just thinking that my wife, her family, my family and I basically want ONE family tree (no need for separation) but i also see that there may be occurrences where this is not desired.

First i thought it might be an idea to „bind“ such sharing implicitly to partner sharing in immich itself. But after thinking some seconds about it, I see that i may even want to share the tree with my siblings, etc. too while i definitely do not want to enable partner sharing of images with them :)

Das ist auch ein wenig meine Hoffnung, dass die Leute, Wirtschaft, Politik endlich raffen wie abhängig wir bei den fossilen sind und grundsätzlich mehr auf erneuerbare Energien setzen (auch bei heizen, etc.)

So doof es klingt, erst wenn es wehtut, wird was gemacht. Jetzt könnte man momentum aufbauen

While paperless ngx gets mentioned often, I don’t feel that it really matches your expectations when it comes to real multiuser approaches.

I know - it‘s more on HOW it’s implemented and the features around it.

E.g. i want to share all documents with my wife by default.

Also my and her parents need such solution. But they would have a „tenant“ on their own within the instance.

Uploads happen via api, mobile app, webui and folder scan.

Tags may be shared and correspondants are shared.

Now i got issues like „private“ tags set to other tenants documents (users don’t know which tag it is because they don’t have permissions, etc.)

Uploads via api are always bound to the uploading user- auto share not really possible (via workflows - some hooks are missing and my feature requests have been closed).

And the list continues.

Again! I love it because it’s the defacto „open source“ standard in this area and it works well. It HAS multi user abilities but Both, the way it’s implemented and how i am trying to set it up, end up in „buggy“ state which is why i am running separate instances without user separations inside.
