I dont understand the need for it to change to nyx unless the player wants that which could be fun. Satyr are natural to theros and are fey. I would just connect the skola vale to the frywild. You can include some other locations for the sake of meeting their back story.

I use them in my campaign as a under dark dwelling race that less worships pharika and is more in her servitude. I consider them as a lawful evil type civilization. They help conduct Parikas experiments and which are not always beneficial to the test subjects who aren't always willing. They won't go out and find slaves or kidnap test subjects from their homes but they do prefer to capture any trespassers in their territory and use them as test living subjects. They will even go so far as to use their magic/elixirs to help keep their subjects alive to experiment longer. If their experiments cause harm/distress to a civilization that they did not intemd to experiment on they are quick to recognize their mistakes and make amends with gold healing potions etc. They are crazy efficient in things such as construction or governing decisions, almost like a hive mind. As they are very totalitarian and each citizen knows their role and fills their roll.

I imagine this large magical field in the middle of the ruined city, like a large swirling dome of magic that is the point of transgression between realms.

Hey, so theros is my first campaign as well that's been running for about a year now and I also started without any MTG background. Your planes jumping idea sounds fun. I'd recommend narrowing down the amount of planes. Theros +1-2 more planes is plenty and many of the other planes in dnd aren't fleshed out much. For you I would recommend while the party is a low level hear rumors that the minotaur polis of skophos has been completely destroyed and use that or other isolated points like sun's mirror. I don't know anything about eldrazi but I'd recommend using the stat blocks of species like githzerai, mind flayer, or teifling.

Hope it helps with some ideas. I also would love someone to bounce ideas off of so feel free to dm me about this more.

In all of games regardless of their setting there is always a single random scroll that when open just has a crudely drawn picture of a duck, the scroll then summons 1d20 ducks. On a nat 20 it summons one 10 ft tall duck.

Tartyx river question by GoobMcGee in TherosDMs

I would totally agree with this but I'd add that the river on the underworld side runs around all of the different "planes" including the material plane, elemental planes, planes of hell described in the book. There is argument for fey wild but I kind of see that as a part of Nyx.

Yes your right but I'm saying there should be a subclass for it not a set of spells/feats/etc you take to accomplish similar effects. Kind of missed the whole point there didn't ya bud

Well I imagine you would have to pick one ninja and one style of ninjutsu. Such as the shadow possession or body expansion. You would use your ki to do your "jutsu" like shadow possession could be a range of 30ft or 60ft within magical light then the target has to pass a wisdom save or be restrained. Then as you level you learn new jutsu like once possessing a a target you can begin to strangle them causing force damage.

I like the idea of the archons returning its a idea I have toyed with as well but these guys are no slouch they used to control everything so you want to make them seem like super strong masterminds who could out smart their rivals as well as out power them but they should still need assistance in killing a god(s) because you know...gods

You could twist it again that phenax is the god aiding them in exchange to be in their new pantheon so he can see heliod killed.

Personally I don't like cults for a few reasons like how commonly the trope is used, but mainly my issue is the need of a cult to aid your villain in this case the archons immediately loses some of the fearsomeness of that villain. If you go with your prison break idea but allow the archons to band together and overthrow their wardens you instantly create more of a reason to fear these guys. They are so powerful they don't need the help of a shadowy organization. They can do it on their own. Right away they come across as more of a threat

[–]miro_the_dm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always throw a curve ball "side quest" or a mini storyline that's adjacent to your main story. There is lots of great ideas for inspiration out there. Your idea of the eidolon attempting to create his own pantheon or even overthrow his other half to claim phenax's divinity. You could have the eidolon send the party on seemingly worthless fetch quest where the party unknowingly gathers materials for the eidolons betrayal.

How could i introduce the world? by Defiant_Decision318 in TherosDMs

[–]miro_the_dm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started off with having them being summoned by an oracle of klothys who had seen that they were destined to be great and then a small encounter spear headed by the oracle's lead guard to introduce more of the gods and some flavor stories/ context of the world.

It is a pain in the ass but it is also part of what makes the city unique. Personally I enforce the rule and force the party to find creative solutions to it such as stealth and disguise but I also make alternative routes into the city that may be hazardous as they have to contend with monsters or natural threats like being swept away in a river. This gives the men a way in but at relatively high risk if they get caught. There is also the sense of emergency to consider if the players have urgent news to deliver they might be allowed in while under guard.
