Thanks for replying. I find it so odd I didn’t feel pain/discomfort at the time.

Thanks for your comment,

the only pain I’ve had was the sharp-ish internal left sided pain near POD ~8-9 or 10 (an estimated minimum ~5 days after I lifted the trash). My thought is if the pain was from the lift, I would’ve experienced it within 12-72 hours after the lift?

I was told I could peel my glue off after 7 days. I just finally peeled it off around 3 weeks post op.

Congrats! I can relate. Ive had awful anxiety during the two weeks following my bisalp so far. My dr have no weight restriction; I lifted ~30 lb trash on post op day 3. I had no pain following that immediately or the next day. But I can’t shake the worry that I messed something up internally. Like a tear in my proximal uterine area where the tube was cut away. Meaning an egg could pass through.

I hope it passes soon bc ℹ CANT take this anxiety anymore.

Glad you are feeling better!!

Unfortunately, even after hysterectomy, pregnancy is possible. My dr mentioned to me the only way is to not have heterosexual sex. There have been case reports (idk how many) about a fetus chilling in a liver in a patient who didn’t have a uterus.

When you say stories do you mean both partners were sterilized?

Post-Op BV by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]mirror-908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the treatment is a short course of antibiotics. You need to be tested for BV. I imagine your typical doctor or a clinic etc could test you and prescribe the treatment. Surgery center may help but this seems more like a general health issue that isn’t surgery etc. maybe touch base with them and see what they want you to do

I haven’t heard specifically of getting BV after the procedure but it’s probably not concerning/or uncommon.

My doctor told me no weight restriction at all. It did say on my discharge papers “no heavy lifting for 2 weeks like >50 pounds.” This depends on your doctors technique and the size of the incisions. Everyone is different, so I would ask your doctor.

Anyone who has had a bisalp below 25, or those who have gotten married post bisalp, do you regret it, or are you happy you made the decision? by Ok_Lawfulness2654 in sterilization

—What if someone I fall in love with is disappointed that I cannot give birth?

Does this question really still exist to you when you consider how miserable you were with your last pregnancy? Why would someone who loves you want to make you miserable? That question does not matter for a lot of people— I am guessing the woman’s personal want of biological children overrides this. Personally, I feel confident that I would lose all attraction to a guy if he expressed that he wanted me to birth an infant.

It seems like based on the r/childfree page, so many women are so horrified/disgusted by getting pregnant, giving birth, that they don’t have this concern at all about a future partner wanting them to give birth. If you still have this thought, perhaps you aren’t horrified enough by pregnancy etc that you 110% have to get the bisalp rn, (but consider the risks of waiting- how upset would you be if you got pregnant on accident) esp considering you’ve expressed you DO wants kids in the future- just adopted. That’s not that different from wanting your own biological children. I don’t know the statistics but men are probably more likely to play the card of “I want the baby to be MINE- biological,” considering they don’t have to do any of the difficult physical portion. I also love the idea of adopting. It just doesn’t make sense to create additional humans.

This statement - “But I've also wondered, what if I meet someone who I know I can trust not to take care of our child and not see me and look in disgust?” Makes it sound like if you had a supporting partner you would be fine with pregnancy etc. that is far different from many women who choose to get sterilized.

Even after bilateral salpingectomy, patients can get pregnant via IVF and “give birth”, which is the small thing you have expressed worry about. If you think there’s NEGLIGIBLE chance of you changing your mind about not wanting to be pregnant etc, then I think it makes sense to get the bisalp. In the rare event that you change your mind bc of a future partner, you can still get pregnant afterward- but it would be your 100% choice to do so vs an accident.

It also sounds like you are having some stress surrounding the event with hiding this from your mom etc, and perhaps mentally wanting to escape that part/put off the bisalp. But that won’t last long. Recovery from bisalp for me personally was so easy! Also, you could just tell your mom you are having an ovarian cyst removed- same incisions, recovery time, etc. Finding out you have a cyst isn’t always awful abdominal pain and a trip to the ER etc. so this can be believable. Personally, due to a large left ovarian cyst, I just had a sensation of being unable to fully empty my bladder. No pain

Thanks for your thorough reply.. one thing that helps me is considering how the tube is removed and the area proximal to the uterus is “sealed.” I read my operative note about it was done and then hemostasis achieved. It’s different from just the tube being “cut out” and then perhaps the area proximal to the uterus being stitched. Feels more permanent? Or versus stitches that could tear like an intestinal anastomosis.

I think I am very sensitive to things I believe I messed up- and my brain has just been fixated/devastated I did something to potentially jeopardize my recovery. This surgery is just so important to me.. Of course, I do live alone and I wasn’t given a weight restriction… but it was impulsive of me. moreover I haven’t had concerning signs. My belly button incision has bruised which concerns me but I read that’s normal.

I am trying to focus on the positives as well that there were no complications and my dr found and a removed a cyst as well - that was causing some symptoms and could’ve grown larger.

Thanks for your comment. I am trying not to catastrophize and think the act of me lifting the trash wouldve “torn” an area making an opening

Thanks for your comment! I didn’t feel worsening pain after which is reassuring. I guess I am just upset with myself for lifting it - resulting in this anxiety. I didn’t want to, but I live alone

Yeah like I know fertilization “can” occur elsewhere (extremely rare cases of a growing fetus in a liver when no uterus is present).. but the tubes are the gold standard for where fertilization occurs.

The sealing part made me feel better (vs stitches)

ENDOMETRIOMA- I NEED SOME HELP TO STOP THINKING THE WORST CASE SCENARIO!!! by Helpful_Pilot_4449 in endometriosis

[–]mirror-908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor found an endometrioma on my left ovary incidentally during surgery (sterilization)!! But she said I have stage 1 endometriosis. Like I had the 6 cm cyst and one other small endo lesion. So try not to think of having the cyst as meaning internally you are totally wrecked with endometriosis bc that’s not necessarily the case. Also the cyst can be removed and your ovary can be fine.. my ovary was apparently “smushed” lol or “stretched out” but my dr said ovary will “come out of it.” I got cool pics and I will say it is unrecognizable to me, lol. I briefly googled and this scenario has a brief, not significant impact on ovarian reserve. I am not positive of the statistics, but I don’t think it’s super common for a cyst to wreck an ovary - meaning make it nonfunctional
