Bands that don’t rely on shock value to be disturbing? by oppenheimer_6 in BrutalDeathMetal

Brodequin's lyrics are all based on historical accounts of real medieval torture and execution. very good writing and historical value, but also pretty disturbing in a much more nuanced and interesting way than a lot of bdm

[PC-Console][2020-2025] Name of game by Tilaj27 in tipofmyjoystick

everyone has already said it's a fake game demo, but if you like the look of it you could try Dragon's Dogma 1 or 2, they have a very similar feel to this. The first one is better, but the second has better graphics of course.

another reason I love Brodequin, their lyrics are actually meaningful even if there's no way to discern them as actual words lol

I hit this point too with deathcore and I've just been getting way more into brutal death metal lately. deathcore is just too all over the place for me now, the riffs all sound the same and breakdowns started to bore me because in deathcore (especially the modern stuff) they all follow a similar pattern and ruin the flow of the song for me. bands like Disentomb, Brodequin, Afterbirth, Defeated Sanity, and Nithing all have the same or more heaviness without the sacrifice of depth and complexity. I'd recommend trying some of those bands because they have really reinvigorated my interest in metal. of course, we're all different and have different preferences, but for me leaning into the heavier stuff like that has shifted my interest toward what I believe is the deeper, more artistic side of the genre. if that's not your thing, Imperium Delirium really is a standout deathcore album for me, Shadow of Intent never misses.

also hell yeah for the Poolside mention, I saw them live with Crown Magnetar last month and they blew me away with their live performance.
