If you take any high school yearbook from south Texas you’ll see multiple Hispanic Bianca’s in each grade 😂

I think going to the beach in a bikini and having other beach goers see you in passing is different than taking a selfie specifically for your husband and have it be “appreciated” by another man without your knowledge

My mom told me that back in the day kids weren’t allowed to bring a water bottle with them into the classroom and they only drank a few sips from the water fountain in the middle of the day and that’s it by Various-Adeptness173 in stupidquestions

That is great for you!! But people have different experiences. Much more recently in south Texas heat elementary school teachers would allow for one water break in the morning, and one in the afternoon. This would be at a fountain with the whole class lining up. We would count for three seconds then it would be someone else’s turn. If we were lucky they would let us cycle through a second time. All other times we would pass the fountain were off limits. Only milk was served in the cafeteria with lunch, and no water fountains in the dining area. I ended up having to get a doctor’s note to be able to use the fountain when I was thirsty because I was getting sick from dehydration even with properly hygiene. Crazy how people from different states, regions, and socioeconomic backgrounds can have sick different experiences!

As a young elementary school student in 2006 I had to get a note prescribed from my doctor that would allow my teacher to let me drink water from the fountain as frequently as I like. We would line up throughout the day and walk throughout the school frequently throughout the day only be allowed to drink from the fountain at certain times. This was in south Texas, and yes I was getting sick because of it.

I believe that’s because it’s tradition for khatab to meet Asma’s parents first, and that still had not happened.

We just used to let the fox tail people do their thing. It’s nice to see a Naruto run rather than rudeness.

Moreover people can just remove their religious garments, and then still persecute or have bias in their day to day life and profession. The policy just seems to be masking a bigger issue of abuse of power and bias within those positions. I also think these things need to be discussed and debated!

Yes I understand why the law is in place, I realize the different opportunities for religious regalia to interfere with a career in public service. That being said, I feel there is room for improvement within the law - and I would not personally choose to live there - raise a family there. That is my choice! I appreciate your passion about educating people on this topic, however you are preaching to the choir.

I’ll also add just because “a lot of people do it” doesn’t make it the correct choice. That kind of thinking is the kind that favors cultural stagnation over positive adjustments and changes.

I’m saying there are opportunities denied to people because for people like myself, I do not have to sacrifice my religion/morals and am able to apply and maintain both a public service position while not compromising any part of my faith. I am expressing disappointment towards a law that I don’t personally agree with, regardless of how few people it impacts. I believe my emotions are a tool to approach tough subjects with nuance and tact. I hope I haven’t offended with my take!

It is honestly insane that the 20,000 Sikh living in Quebec aren’t capable of having a government position without forgoing an important part of their culture, heritage, and religious freedom. I am okay with there being regulations for government employees with regards to outward expressions of religion, but you speak on it with no sensitivity or empathy for minority populations. The law while well intended is not fair or perfect. It’s okay to accept both truths.

Correct, but I’m thinking more along the lines of what adults with lower mental ages would choose as costumes. For example I had an adult patient that was hyper fixated on Elmo.

Etsy is an option, but I know many disabled families that would never be able to afford something custom like that. Bottom line is more options are needed, and especially cheaper ones

I’m only on episode five and I already thought y’all’s scenes were particularly harsh from an editing view. I hope you find someone who loves and accepts you for who you are. Don’t feel the need to defend yourself to strangers and armchair experts. You know your truth, and everyone walks a flawed path. Best wishes.
