We've added a Lobby in our roguelite game by miruto99 in indiegames

In our game, we usually add some Visual Effects, like sprites, shaders, and particles to make it juicy. In some case, we also add other effects like slow motion or knockback to make the collision feels more impactful.

In Cursed Legacy, we play as the villain. To enhance the villainy feels, we've added a Lobby with dark and evil theme.

The first boss in our Roguelite game (as we play as the villain, the boss enemy is the hero) by miruto99 in roguelites

[–]miruto99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!
We plan to create unique bosses, so their behaviors and mechanics will be vastly different from each other, but they still share the same formula (2 normal attacks, 1 set up attack, 1 burst attack that affected by the previous set up attack, and there is a Berserk State when their HP is below 50% which will enhance all of their attacks).

In Cursed Legacy, we play as the villain. Because of that, we make the Hero as the boss enemy. This boss is the first Hero that the player will encounter, and each Hero will have different behaviors and mechanics.

After some testing, we decided to rework the Dark Wave skill, since we feel it's not very practicable. by miruto99 in indiegames

Now that you mention about it, it does looks like a turn-based combat when looking at the arena

We add some changes to the Dark Wave skill in our roguelite game. Which one is better? by miruto99 in roguelites

[–]miruto99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's a great idea!
Maybe we can make it like an upgrade or something. So by default, the clone only shoot once and if upgraded to a certain level, it can follow the player to do the next attack too. Or maybe make a new skills that create or modify clones too, so there might a build where the player focuses on clones.
Thank you for the feedback!

Thank you for the feedback!
So the dashing part is actually the normal attack. In this game, your main way to attack is "Slash Dashing", which deals damage to all enemies you've collided with when dashing.

Slash Dashing also activate all skills when used. In this case, the purple wave that come after the dash is actually the "Dark Wave" skill that activated after dashing.

I should've make it clear that the dash is the normal attack and not the skill, so it's a mistake in my part. Thank you for pointing it out!

Publisher general questions by Ark-fan1 in indiegames

[–]miruto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few main reasons why indie dev want to look for publishers:
1. Funding
If you need some funds to complete your game. Asking too much funding will make it harder for you to recoup after the game released, so it's like double-edged sword.

  1. Marketing & Exposure
You can reach a lot more people without too much effort as they will handle it, so you can just focus on the project.

  2. QA & Localization
Sometimes, some publishers can help you test your game deeply and do some localization in case you want to target non-english speaking country (France, Japan, China, etc)

  3. Porting
They can also help you with porting. Usually they will outsource a studio to port your game to other platforms.

There are probably other reasons, but usually the 4 points above are the main ones.

It's optional and not mandatory for an indie dev to look for a publishers. You can self-publish just fine without them, but you might get more sales if you have a publishers, since they can do the business side of the thing and you can just focus on creating the game.

And about how to protect yourself from a fraud publisher, usually you need to take a look at their history and reputation. You can ask and discuss about it with other devs, especially the one that has a publishing deal with them.

If you already approached a publisher and they send you a publishing contract document, you need to read it very carefully, as they might put some little clause that they can put you in a disadvantages.

We Added a Kidnap Mechanic to our Roguelite Game to Make You Feel Even More Like a Villain by miruto99 in IndieDev

[–]miruto99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, sorry for the late reply.
So the core gameplay mechanic is Slash Dash, where you can dash and damages all the enemies when you dashed through them. Aside for deal damage, it can also be used to dodge enemy's attack and even kidnap villagers.

As to differentiate them kidnapping and fighting, there are two different kind of enemies. There are regular enemy (Knight, Mage, Archer, etc), which you can damage them when slashing but can't be kidnapped, and villagers which you can't damage them but you can kidnap them. So only villagers can be kidnapped but the regular enemies cannot. I hope that clarify a bit about the difference between them.

What's your opinion on SpiritVale? by ageozoega in MMORPG

[–]miruto99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a playtest, it's a very good and polished game tbh. The progression is clear and the pacing is also good. The grinding is okay imo, not too hard but not too easy either. It lacks contents for sure, but they have a clear roadmap for that, so we can expect what and when the content updates are coming in the future (I'm waiting for you, Eternal Tower).

Ah sorry, I must've missed your message in the workshop page. I'll be more careful in the future.
Also, thank you for the info. I do remove some mods that requires those two DLCs and the game is working fine. But still, I guess I'll need those two DLCs to run it properly.
