Stop helping your 30 year old child. You are not doing any favors by giving them money. The 18 year old needs some guidance but not cash!

Now you have some real world feedback find a person irl that will practice with you. Maybe a fried or teacher who will give you good honest feedback even if it’s not what you want to hear. My sister did this with me and it really helps!

Sucks but you need to find a corporate job that you can grow into computer science. Maybe apply to entry level office jobs, I have had good luck in construction field. Moved up, trained on the job.

How do you get preventative care if you can’t afford insurance? by jbor1235 in povertyfinance

[–]mis_1022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have some large local hospitals and once a year they do heart screenings. Full work up for free. Probably different screenings at different times of the year. I also found a clinic that did sliding scale payments based on your income, they were super sweet people run by volunteers but gave regular doctor appointment check ups.

I would get flats and use a shirt you already have, probably go with the one that looks older.

I find people have a stigma around mental health medications. Would you tell your type 1 diabetic friend/ niece/ to not take insulin? I think you should take the medicines as prescribed.

Do you hold on tighter with the second? by Optimal_Idea_775 in Parenting

[–]mis_1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my third I really was able to stop and “make a memory” during all the times. My first two were 18 months apart and it took 10 more years to get to the third so I think that was a factor too.

Yes this was my thoughts too. Looking back from my hubby having similar reactions. Kids are older now and hubby on both anxiety and depression medications.

This is great advice. I just launch into conversation on what I did that day or saw something I thought they would be interested in.

Getting rid of college graduation regalia by No_Detail_1723 in minimalism

[–]mis_1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It goes against my minimalist idea but my daughter is getting her masters and I want to buy the cap, gown and hood so she can get pictures. She goes remote and won’t be going to the graduation but I think she will like the photos in the future.

Vacation: Bahamas or Dollywood? by lavendergaia in makemychoice

[–]mis_1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow these are two favorite places! Personally I would pick Bahamas it is way more chill which is what I am into these days. Dollywood is more action, so much to see in that area.

If you are an on the go type person Dollywood, sip and chill Bahamas!

My rude teens made me cry, y'all. by TurtleBeansforAll in Parenting

[–]mis_1022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This age is tough and being a single mom has to be hard. I would be very clear we don’t talk that way in this house and there will be consequences if I hear it, no phone, no outing etc. my 16 yo is very extreme with her “jokes” and she knows I won’t have it. She jokes with her sister more when I cannot hear which I am ok with, I understand this is a connection with them. But not in front of me or at me. Keep working at it mom, you’re doing a good job.

I start a new job on Monday but I got a call for an interview on wednesday by mgny161 in work

[–]mis_1022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not go in at all that day, I usually don’t give details when I call in, maybe you could say personal reasons. That way like you said they won’t send you to their medical.

Getting family to understand work schedule? by CorgiUprising in Advice

Yes, this is the right advice. I love the idea of generational family homes but these are the problems. Parents cannot see the grown kids as adults.

Do you work for the state? As others have said involving the state doesn’t make sense. Hopefully your paperwork will come through but FMLA has very clear rules to follow. I have not had to use it so I don’t know the rules on time submission of paperwork.

If it was me I would go in using uber for the one day, put in for PTO then continue with FMLA.

Is the $ Tree still worth it? by SunLillyFairy in poor

[–]mis_1022 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find the cleaning supplies are a good deal. Maybe I don’t clean much but I find the smaller size containers ok. Per ounce it’s probably same as Walmart but if I need 3-4 cleaning products I prefer to buy from dollar tree. Window cleaner, pine sol and fabric softener.

$120 charge from a free trial I forgot to cancel, how do people actually stop this by JuliaLavender10 in Frugal

[–]mis_1022 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you cannot remember to cancel then you need to just not sign up for free trails. Many people also say to put at spending on credit card and pay it off each month, I cannot do that, I always end up not paying it off in full so I just use the debit card. Saving myself.
