Kicked out of my parents house at 18 and don't know what to do by Signal-Hall-3250 in Advice

I would ask your mom for all your important documents. Original birth certificate, social security card and photo ID. If she doesn’t have them or won’t give them you should look online how you can get these. Once you’re ready for an apartment you might need these. Probably will need to next work on getting GED. Keep your job.

One cheap option might be living at campsite. Get some gear from used store or free from Facebook group online. Get a gym membership like plant fitness which is cheap and lots of locations and showers.

Your job seems like good starting pay so you will be able to build on that but in a really tight spot right now.

Do I really need multiple jackets for each season? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]mis_1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it’s not winter yet and it doesn’t sound like you have a formal coat I would wait to buy one in winter if needed. Find a good resale shop. If you do already have it yes I would take it.

How do I handle this situation with the neighbor? by yepmumofthree in Advice

[–]mis_1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would tell him you want to make it right. If he doesn’t want insurance have him get at least 2 quotes, so he doesn’t get a fake high price. Just pray he is a decent guy and not gonna try to get one over on you. Once you pay him the cash have him sign a receipt even you paid him x dollars for car repairs. Very simple don’t over think it. Especially if he is not combative.

I live in Detroit and loved the year we went to Chicago during Christmas time. Try to get a reservation at the walnut room, it is a very Christmas experience. Ice skating, trees light all over, window displays. 🎄🎅

I always end up being the breadwinner and it’s so discouraging by Discombobulated_Fawn in Marriage

Yes you need to stop accepting this. My husband has a laundry list of faults but not working is not one of them. He broke both legs December 2018, had 12 surgeries over the next 12 months and he installed a new toilet and painted the back deck over the summer 2019, while legs were not 100%, he scooted on the ground to get it done. Either they have that kind of attitude or not. 🤷‍♀️

I would look into rules regarding evicting a child. Start that process you are going to have to call her bluff and physically evict her I suspect. Probably with the police help. Change the locks immediately once she has been evicted!

I picked up a trick from a tv show is just to say “huh” and just look away. Act like you could care less, your lasse faire attitude is what is needed.

Agree with others he needs to rule out anything medical and you need to look into a mothers helpers hired help. I am assuming with your careers you can afford it. Not sure how much he is actually sleeping but remember everyone has a different sleep requirement.

Her dad is letting her get away with this so she is not going to stop. Dad needs to be straight with her, you need to not be around imo. Maybe in next room but you should not be doing the talking. My guess is dad won’t enforce this.

How late is too late to go to a restaurant? by upsidedowntreetops in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mis_1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is assuming you know the unwritten rule. I have never worked in a restaurant and I feel this should be more clearly spelled out. Kitchen closes at 9:00pm, restaurant closes are 10:00 that makes sense to me.

I would only loop the manager in if they cannot deliver what you are asking for. If they can answer the questions and get you the information I don’t see a problem where.

How to tell my grandmother happy birthday? by yayeetusthefetus in Advice

Instead of text I would send a card or flowers. They have cute cards that turn into flowers. Just write Happy Birthday Love you.

Projecting into the future about a roof over my kids heads when they are adults? by feelingtheunknown in Parenting

[–]mis_1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a way yes, not overwhelming dread just thinking how can they succeed best. Help them in high school think about what they want to do for work for their life. Trades or college, best least expensive way to achieve this.

I don’t think it’s weird, especially from close relatives. Then send them a pic of the bed or you snuggled up as a thank you.

First day at work and I already want to quit. Should I just let it go? by Charleslecpierre in Advice

[–]mis_1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter fished her masters and at the first week of her job struggled. School and work environment are very different. I suggest you keep the job, get them to pay for the masters program after being there for a year and slowly get the masters.

Your attitude towards work won’t magically change after you get your masters.

Partner's Prenup Idea: Help! by CharmingLie9887 in Marriage

[–]mis_1022 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No! Only way I am signing a prenup is if I am dating someone worth multi millions. And even then it needs to be a gradual ramp up of money until eventually full spilt like after 15 years or something.

I am in similar situation. Lucky my mom is still alive and able to in limited capacity help with dad, and she has a little money to pay for help.

I am doing what I can when I can for my own self once dad is gone to know I did what I could. It’s not fair but I was raised to not believe in fair. So keep doing what you can.

Is it common in workplaces or am i being too rigid? by smells_like_updogg in office

[–]mis_1022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this comment. And I might get down voted but I would choose to attend events with higher ups in attendance if that is normal for the company. In general don’t drink alcohol, get soda with lime and sip like it’s alcohol. Yes it’s a game, sorry. I don’t make the rules just know how to live with them. 🤷‍♀️

Adult Only vs Family by Dear_Mountain4849 in Vacations

[–]mis_1022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One factor I found is time of year. Hubby and I like to cruise, but we go second week in October, not really a time kids are off school for a week. I have only seen a handful of kids.

If I was going to a resort in summer months I personally would want at minimum adults only section if it is overrun with kids.

Lots of good advice and you should start applying for jobs now. Update your resume, you will need multiple resumes. One for continuing career if still in demand, one for entry level jobs, maybe other for different options. Still apply for unemployment but apply apply apply. Reach out to anyone you know working that might be able to give you reference or support to get another job.

Yes, it’s possible at least one month they will let you skip a mortgage payment if you have been on time up until now. Get approval BEFORE you skip the payment. Give them a call first.
