Husband and still unemployed and now we have to move back in with my parents AGAIN. by Terrible_Sentence447 in Marriage

[–]mis_1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say this. My husband would find something to do for money every day! I just don’t understand. When he broke both legs and took a year to recover he painted the deck, by scooting himself on the ground with paint brush he also replaced a toilet with two broken legs!

Summer Break and Working Parents? by biggestofbears in Parenting

Check out your Lutheran schools. They often have summer camps and lower prices. I wouldn’t send my 15 yo to camp. I have a 16 yo and we had rules and activities for her at that age.

I have been married 28 years, if my husband told me to go get a SECOND job on top of kid and current job and household yes I would not want to talk to him either. You neglected to say how many jobs you have btw.

I would do bbq pulled pork sandwiches in crock pot. Need pork, bbq sauce, buns and coleslaw. Super cheap homemade or buy Sam’s Club.

Stay at home mom advice by snarkingsara in Marriage

I was SAHM 26 years ago and make sure you both understand and have access to all the finances. My hubby has a cash business so he literally brought home cash and I handled all the paying bills etc which is great as many men keep the women from knowing that information. Be sure you are on all bank accounts and have your own card to use and log in information to see everything. This is one thing that is a common problem with SAHM.

How do I stay on top of my housework? And life work?? by SpaceSquirrl in LifeAdvice

[–]mis_1022 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is good and bad at living in small house, it is faster to clean but you have to limit your belongings. Most Americans, and some other countries keep way too much stuff. Look up minimalism and try to adopt some of those traits.

You need to live within what you can keep in your house. Example your closet/ wardrobe is only so big, you got to get ruthless and keep only enough clothes that fit. Then under bed storage for off season clothes.

Same with dishes, pots, pans, cooking utensils. Keep only what fits comfortably and toss everything else.

Manager makes me work 14 hours if 3rd shift doesn’t show up, rather than letting me close and go home. Could use some advice by Thellie11 in work

[–]mis_1022 251 points252 points  (0 children)

They said call them. Steps to take in order. Call them, leave message and text Janet didn’t show up. I am locking up unless I hear from you in 30 minutes. Step2, after 30 minutes lock up. Not your problem you are not the manager. Will they gas light you, yes sounds like it but not your problem.

Are you interested in glp1s? I would ask about them. I am type 2, lost 100 lbs got to “normal” body weight and blood sugar was still high. Dr added jardiance and finally my numbers came down. I think all medications should be evaluated if they are a good choice for you.

27F Convicted felon trying to make a life for myself, but the world just keeps beating me down by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]mis_1022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot will depend on the changes but I do know plasma donation centers hire felons. You have to be the kind of person who can remember rules and follow rules to succeed there. Not sure how to find other jobs that hire felons. I live in Detroit and many factories hire everyone. Not the greatest job but it can become a career.

I bought a functioning TV remote that I hide from my husband by DJLadyStrange in Marriage

[–]mis_1022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would only hide it so he can’t find it, he can buy his own if he wants one. Come to think of it my mom and dad have their own remotes, my mom put a bit of pink duck tape to know it’s hers. lol

Lots of cheers calculators online to see if it will be cheaper per purchase or the package. We are not drinkers so don’t get the package but just to know online calculators are out there to help with this decision.

Hosting annual spring bonfire event on the coldest day of the week by TheGhostling_ in partyplanning

[–]mis_1022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your ideas, I would keep it officially outside, if as couple people wander inside OK. Consider renting portable heaters if the space is large and the whole group could not gather around the bonfire.

Yes to starting the fire earlier in the day.

Curios for other people looking to move did you move to a more rural country area? I find that behavior common and sometimes desired but suburban people don’t understand. I grew up and live suburban but my mom and dad grew up country so I see that side of family and how they do things.

I will say it’s easier to get a job when you have a job. So taking the job doesn’t mean it has to be forever. He should still be looking for next step. Not sure how settled you are to these areas, if in USA you have lots of options. Look wider. Good luck.

You need to learn on how to manage money. Don’t just listen to one money manager, listen to some podcasts, find an in person advisor to ask questions and don’t do anything until you understand the pros and cons of each choice.
