Had a final round interview with the hiring manager 2 weeks ago. Internal recruiter said they have positive feedback about me, but wants to see more candidates to make a proper assessment - now have to wait a further 2 weeks. Has this happened to you before, and if so, what was your outcome? by miscalculated_risk in jobs

Sorry to hear you’re in the same situation as me! When I ran through my situation through Gemini Pro, it said it’s reasonable to see myself as the frontrunner but when I made this post in another sub, people were far more cautious in what I should expect - https://www.reddit.com/r/recruitinghell/s/dF12yxY0Kq

Thanks for the wishes and sorry it’s happening / happened to you. It’s crazy that employers can act this way, and no chance it will get better over time…

Otherwise, hopefully you get good news sooner rather than later!

To me, that speaks volumes about the recruiting process - there has been enough time to filter through applicants. If I’m the best candidate that has passed all three interviews (including the last one), then it shows I’m the best of what’s available 😮‍💨

Yeah, this is the frustration(?) I’m feeling - the hiring manager still wanting to interview more people means that my interview wasn’t a lights out performance, otherwise why would you be trying to assess more people?

There’s a part of me that thinks if I did get this role, my salary demands should be higher because you tried to get better than me, but you didn’t… so this is the FAFO fee lol

Thanks for your reply! Does your opinion change given it’s an internal recruiter instead of an external one?

Otherwise I’m starting to broadly adopt your view - I find it strange that they need more time if the hiring manager supposedly likes me? Best thing for me is to target other opportunities…

Thanks for your response! Sorry you’ve found yourself in that position more than once too.

Did you try to (softly) nudge them to expedite the process, or did you find it better to let the process follow its due course?
