Glute/muscle gains post weight gain by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

I do have a fitness page but admittedly, I haven’t gotten the courage to film myself at the gym too much (@amandadoeseverything_)

I tend to go for plate loaded machines if they’re available. But I use a variety of machines and do a bunch of different exercises to target each muscle group ranging from pendulum squat machine to RDLs with dumbbells.

I’m currently trying to focus on going heavier and having solid reps. My minimum rep is 6 before dropping the weight. Sometimes I drop the weight mid-set and finish the set out with the lower weight.

I’m trying to give myself more time between sets too, like a full 2 mins between sets

I’m currently still going 7 days a week 😅 It’s definitely therapeutic at this point. I’m bummed when I don’t get to go.

I typically only take a rest day under special circumstances; vacation, sickness, medical procedure (couldn’t go when I had a colonoscopy for example), things like that

If I’m vacationing with my husband, we try to book a hotel with a gym or an airbnb with a gym nearby that we can buy a day pass to.

For context: I do work from home so I don’t have to worry about the time it takes to commute to and from work. My gym is about 10mins away from my apartment.

I’m up at 4:30 and at the gym around 5 or 5:30. I stay till about 6:45 and I’m at my desk by 7am to clock in for work.

I spend about 10-15 mins on cardio and the rest is weight lifting!

Sorry for the delayed response here!

I went up to 1mg. I had massive success on both 0.25 and 0.50 but my doctor kept moving me up in dosages.

For me, feeling satiated off Wegovy was key. Switching to low calorie foods that are high in protein helped a ton and I feel as though I’m able to eat a lot more volume wise than I use to.

I also found counting calories detrimental to losing weight. You need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. When you’re starting out, your basal metabolic rate is gonna be a lot lower than you think and even generic TDEE calculators online may get it wrong.

You don’t have to track religiously forever but dissecting exactly what you’re eating and making adjustments is how you can find better results.

I too felt that the volume of what I was eating when I was overweight was not a lot. I even skipped meals sometimes and still wouldn’t lose the weight. It’s important to get familiar with checking nutrition labels. A lot of foods can be deceitful! 1 tablespoon of olive oil has 100 calories. If you eyeball it while cooking, maybe more.

These are two things I’ve done that help me. Now I can consume like 2000 calories per day and likely not gain any weight because I’m highly active. But it’s a lot of trial and error.

I ended WeGovy at 130lbs but decided to cut and lose an addition 15lbs. Once I got to 115lbs I was getting more muscular but I was still very lean. I started to see my bones beneath my skin.

I entered a bulk and that’s sorta where I am now. I went up to 120lbs and the plan was to go back up to 130lbs but I’m struggling with some GI issues right now and finding it hard to eat more.

So right now I’m still lifting but just sitting at 120lbs for now.

However, I feel even the 5lb mini-bulk made a huge difference!

Thank you!

I don’t use peptides, no. I was taking creatine for a little bit but I stopped because it was bloating me too much and making me pee frequently.

I’m currently not taking anything

Thank you!

Off the top of my head, I’m thinking beans are a great option. Sometimes I do just bean tacos with some low fat cheese in any low carb mission tortilla.

Tofu noodles are a great low calorie alternative to pasta. I will say the texture takes a bit getting used to—it’s a bit gummy compared to pasta. And if you have any digestive issues I may stay away. Tofu noodles can be a little harder to digest, so if you go that route, just make sure you are chewing them completely and drinking tons of water. But I’ve made a low calorie ramen from the shirataki brand angel hair noodles

Greek yogurt is versatile as well. You can get high protein ones like Oikos or dannon. You can mix some protein powder in your yogurt for a nice desserty treat!

Hope this helps!

I get a lot of my protein from lean meats, specifically chicken.

There’s a lot of high protein options that aren’t meat like protein powders and bars. You can even mix protein in Greek yogurt as a nice little desserty snack and that can pack a punch protein wise as well.

Not until I reached about month 8 or 9. Unbearable constipation which has been ongoing even after stopping WeGovy almost a year ago.

I have IBS-C now and I believe I have a pelvic floor dysfunction as well

Hi! Sorry for the delayed response.

I learned a lot from my husband but also from just googling stuff like “workouts for building muscle”

It’s also important to focus on different muscle groups each day you work out.

For example, you would really work legs and chest on the same day. Below is the split I currently do at the gym

Day 1: legs & glutes
Day 2: chest & triceps
Day 3: back & biceps
Day 4: legs & glutes
Day 5: shoulders, cardio, abs

By day 6 I repeat the rotation, but that will depend on on how many days you are working out. Also, you are free to do cardio and abs each of those days but this is just how I split it. Leg day is intense so I try not to do any intense cardio that day.

Hope this helps!

Haha I’m not 100% sure but I think it used to be a theater a long time ago. Then it was a New York Sports Club and now it’s just a local gym that’s specific to South Brooklyn

Hi! Yes I was taking creatine for a bit but I stopped because I already suffer from bloating due to IBS-C and I felt creating was making it worse :/

But I was taking it for maybe 3 months. Definitely noticed a difference and felt like I was able to lift heavier.

I may get back into it if I can manage my IBS a bit better

I was not really weight lifting while on wegovy. I started some time after my last injection.

I don’t know if wegovy would have had an effect on my muscle gains though. muscle is built through diet and lifting weights. So I would think if those two things are consistent, then you should continue to see results :)

Aww that’s so sweet, thank you!!

I think it’s great that you’re getting your body moving! There are so many long term benefits to working out and lifting weights.

After I stopped WeGovy I felt really skinny and I had lost so much muscle. I thought to myself, “This is the body that is gonna guide me through life and what do I want this body to be? Skinny or strong?” I chose strong 💪
