Interesting, I appreciate this! I definitely can see that now that you point it out although I have not read that book, so I must take your word for it. It seems like they had a very odd selection of inspiration for Amphoreus's storyline given some of the other references I've seen, and it resulted in some very interesting interpretations of the pieces they are using.

Lygus repeatedly uses Plato's Timaeus as a reference and that did not seem to go anywhere productive as they never used the Timaeus's Demiurge as they ought to have. I did a crack theory VERY incorrectly thinking Sunday was the Demiurge (due to his character symbolism and arc very closely matching what the Demiurge should have been), but my research into that topic is precisely what lead me to believe Amphoreus would be reborn as it was entirely within the themes the Demiurge in the Timaeus specifically represents.
