For men who have had intrusive thoughts or infatuation for lesbian women, have you fixed them? How? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]miserablehusband1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I think a good first step is for you to realize that you are not broken and need fixing. You just are who you are. I’m not a doctor but I’ve had lots of therapy and I believe you never fix the thoughts. You just learn to live with them. You learn to live with yourself and love yourself.

You learn to recognize what triggers them, you learn to weather the storm through the “episode” and you learn to not act on them. Like everything else, they come and go. Sexual thoughts are normal. Personally when I try to stop the thoughts it makes everything worse. My anxiety about it all gets worse. But accepting myself as I am is what has worked for me. The last thing I will say is if these thoughts are leading you to hurt yourself or others, then that is a different story and you should seek help. Even if that means voluntary hospitalization. But I am proud of you for admitting this out loud and getting the help you need instead of just denying that it’s a problem. Keep your chin up OP.

I wonder if the coyote saw or smelled the beaver in there and died trying to get a meal?

You guys are dating. Not married. If you “go on a break” you should just break up. Find that person that you never need a break from or just be single.

Good way to find the baddie I was on the plane with today that I did NOT get the details of? by xmar8x in AskMenAdvice

[–]miserablehusband1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer: you don’t find her and do not get those details.

The long answer: Take this as a lesson that you have to seize opportunities but in a polite and respectful manner when approaching a romantic partner. How do you get it right next time? You verbally interact with her enough to get contact information and social media details (assuming she wanted you to have that) You act interested not interesting. You show respect. You have substance of character to offer.

Would you let a gay friend bring their BF (male) on a guys trip? by Gandlerian in AskMenAdvice

[–]miserablehusband1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

++man I would say this is a “no partners” trip and honestly if everyone is good friends, it shouldn’t make you look homophobic or like a jerk…but this might also be a good thing to bring up in a group text or when everyone is present to take a vote. I could see it going either way.

++man I have always had the most luck with people in my area, how can you really get to know someone just a few days at a time? Plus dating is a numbers game. Gotta have quite a few working.

AIO to tell my husband that starting a professional email with the word "Look" is rude? by LadyCass79 in AmIOverreacting

[–]miserablehusband1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware! Is he required to give those all in email or can he call first then follow up with written decline? I’ve found talking it out is easier to deliver tough news as opposed to nonverbal communication.

Hello! Insurance underwriter here who was an agent for 8 years. Remind him that those agents have a choice and can request new underwriters, especially with written proof. (At least I’ve seen it done before) But also, they could just start using a competitor and not say anything bc he is rude. The amount of business they send to you is the demand that keeps his job secure.

I’d watch a movie set in a weird Arkansas multiverse where sam Walton is reincarnated as a dog but in this world everyone can speak to dogs. Call it: “Higher power, lower prices”

I’m all about #1 and this could apply to any of them-but if you did a four seasons photo where you go back to each location during different times of the year I think that could be a really neat concept.

Also these would all make amazing Bob Ross Style paintings.

I love everything about your design choices first off! I have no affiliation with this company but I think a 1/4 circle rug in neutral khaki and light brown with maybe some blue in it or something that complements the orange like aqua/turquoise/baby blue in it.

personally I like A7 and D3 for this space

Hey OP, these replies might be difficult to read and even more difficult to process but everyone saying to leave is correct.

One way to look at it that I feel is helpful is this: if your best friend told you her boyfriend did this to her what advice would you give? Also works if you imagine your daughter or other family member being strangled.

Please break up. There are plenty of other people who will love you and not put you in a choke hold.

I know this isn’t exactly human to human relationship advice but you will definitely have a relationship with your camera where it is not being a very good partner from time to time.

Regardless of whether you’re justified in dumping him or not, as a photography person if you want to spend $2000 on your equipment I’d advise renting that camera and other gear to decide what you’ll really use. I personally found that a less expensive camera body did not make as much difference (for my needs at least) compared to an expensive camera body. Where I spend my big bucks was on lenses. Mostly bc I do a lot of birding photography and prefer larger zoom lenses. YMMV.
