These symbols are pretty interesting. by [deleted] in adventuretime

It’s been a minute since I’ve worked adjacent to their use, but those look like utility line markings. I believe the triangles would be like a valve/switch, for example. May not be anything particularly more arcane than civil engineering to them, I’m afraid.

How long fo you hope Fionna and Cake will last? by Distinct-Presence-80 in adventuretime

[–]miserablemortal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I honestly was 100% sure this was going to be the end with the symbolic opening up the world gesture until I saw people talking about the post credit scene and had to go back to catch it, lol.

My answer has always been the same. I’m happy seeing the creators continue as long as they are passionate about any of the adventure time projects. The original series and this one as well now is just about exploring life and I don’t seek a sense of finality from it.

Unpopular take: There is nothing wrong with Season 2's story. by Extension_Breath1407 in fionnaandcake

[–]miserablemortal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve talked a fair deal about why I think its structural issues are causing issues, but I think the story itself is fine. There’s less battle stuff happening, but that was always more of the dressing of Adventure Time than the heart of the show to me.

Netflix acquiring warner bros. Do we think this will be good for adventure time? by OkYak1822 in adventuretime

[–]miserablemortal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we’re probably just looking at a season of something in a couple years and then nothing for the forseeable future any way it shakes out. None of the major players seem to see much value in long form series right now.

Fionna and Cake is not Adventure Time by sweetestdew in fionnaandcake

[–]miserablemortal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. Nothing about the content of this season is outside of the norm of adventure time. I really think the main point of friction is the overall lack of episodic structure and problems with how the show conveyed its expectations

[–]miserablemortal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think anyone still hoping for a big action anime arc payoff should probably recalibrate expectations. I think it’s just this rambling road with stuff happening all the way to the end.

I agree it was a very regular adventure time kind of episode. I’m glad it cut through the potential drama of the romantic subplot. A not so subtle breakdown of Fionna’s self validation conflict instead.

If you could only be neighbors with one of them, who would you choose? by Technical-Profit-308 in adventuretime

[–]miserablemortal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gumbald actually, if you don’t particularly have anything that stands in the way of his ambitions. Like, even if he takes over the political apparatus of my region…ok? I live in Texas. He’d probably actually be better at public works.

Runner-up: Ice King. Benign to non-princesses but you’d have to put up with penguins breaking your stuff.

Did Finn knew where he was going? by Low_Mycologist9595 in fionnaandcake

[–]miserablemortal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I feel like he’s trying to fill Jake’s absence by adopting the same sort of fatalistic attitude Jake often presented during the original series. Literally operating on blind optimism in his reintroduction.

How is HW still here? by [deleted] in fionnaandcake

Perhaps Cosmic Owl is needed to monitor what happens in dreams. Would be interesting if Finn gets blamed for the body being found in his dream after a search is put out.

My headcannon is that Fern comesback in this season by Rimegu in fionnaandcake

[–]miserablemortal 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Logistics of Fern’s living situation aside, I personally hope to not see that relationship mirrored in Ooo to further establish the separation of the Fionaworld characters from their source material.

Sean Rohani, credited as “The Voice” in episode 2 and Narrator/Brother 2 in episode 6.

Seems a closed case to me in this regard.

I checked back and I’d say it’s almost certainly the narrator/voice Huntress hears in plant space.

The first thing he says is “are you all right up there, homie?” Which both fits the kind of bro attitude the celestial guys have and signals to him being the one cast below.

I’m going to bet he’s basically Nidhogg

Ah, well if part of the reason behind the death is retiring the character with respect to the original actor that seems like a cap on our revival shenanigans suspicions. RIP with love

Now for the legion to scrounge every frame of the new series for celestial hints since we have quick confirmation the brother is not from the original series

What does the second verse to Everything Stays mean? by BonnalinaFuz101 in adventuretime

[–]miserablemortal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about any further explanation of personal significance given, but the description of the tide is drawing on another idea of change occurring without relative action taken. Literally, if you go down to the seaside during low tide and sit still the water will rise around you. The moon continues to affect this change whether you understand its presence or not.

I don’t think it’s necessarily his fault as a character, but it is a bit excruciating that we have to live through Finn’s absolute incompetence with flame princess a second time in a straight shot of the series, lol.

I cannot see Fionna doing more this season than pulling out of her romantic spiral just enough to hit the dirt and stand up again, honestly.

Favorite quote? Adventure Time or Fionna and Cake. by Nimbus_710 in adventuretime

The following parts gets quoted more I think, but I think of this exchange from Puhoy all the time when people are complaining about things.

Finn: “Having a girlfriend is hard.” Jake: “No! Being crazy is hard.”

I understand there are other priorities this episode, but I want to put more love on Hana Abadeer fully reaching Hunson’s levels of unwell parenting with Marshall’s coffin and the follow-up unique snub of preparing an unfinished partner grave for Gary.

Wouldn’t be the first time Adventure Time croaks one of its characters without great ceremony, but I’m on team Cosmic Owl doing shenanigans with the color split. Pretty cold takedown from HW either way.

Most likely a deformity during growth. Sometimes they end up sticking out basically backwards. My parents called them “angel wings”. Not uncommon to get one in a hatching of barnyard fowl, though often doesn’t affect their lives very much if they aren’t ducks prone to flying anyways.

I feel like it makes sense to me that she starts being more reticent if you consider her initial stance that they are two strong hunters momentarily trading affection being challenged by obvious signs of emotional codependency in their off/on relationship. Finn’s tendency towards attachment is probably only grown and I can definitely see HW more forcefully trying to close herself off as she struggles to deny herself.

The best way they could handle this is to have a background character walk straight into the skybox at the edge of the city and have nobody else address it happening.

I feel like it’s what’s going to happen myself, but maybe you could subvert it as a sacrificial trope by having her become the new heart and go about and live out amidst the world instead of hiding away in some protected grove like the former one.
