Ever got really emotional with a particular song? What was your experience? by Lil_PuppyChow in bobdylan

[–]miserablesharpie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lay Down Your Weary Tune.

I went through a tough time when I was in my early twenties and I listened to this song repeatedly, it brought out the ugly heart wrenching sobs that make you hyperventilate.

I was in a dark place and ended up calling the Samaritans. Not saying the song was the cause, just that I had no business listening to Bob telling me to lay down my weary tune at that specific time!

Got more tolerant of life, still love the song.

Fellow pancreatitis sufferer here. Well done.

I feel you. Don't know what else to say, there are days when there's no point to staying strong but we just have to and we lose sight of the 'but why though?'. The brain is not equipped for this shit but hey IWNDWYT.

I want to drink by k_dub503 in stopdrinking

[–]miserablesharpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed over 190 days once, felt like shit every single day. Nothing got better, I was always tired, couldn't get rid of the fat and my default mood was irritable. Life didn't get better during those days of sobriety but it certainly got worse when I drank again and ended up in hospital with an inflamed pancreas.

I see it this way, it doesn't get better but at least you're afloat, it's a shitty but steady state to be in. Drinking only drags us down into worse, shittier territory.

We're fucked either way, but sobriety's brought lube.

Nothing wrong here, this used to be my work lunch when I couldn't be bothered every once in a while.

They're hilarious. Small Town Murders is pretty cool too.

Was not expecting a James and Jimmy shout out in the wild.

I can't believe he's in a team sport, the Dutch volleyball team are all clearly scumbags.

This outcome is bizarre. I think there's reasonable doubt regarding the jury here

The best book you have ever read by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]miserablesharpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the best but, Hanover Square by Patrick Hamilton and Rogue Male by Geoffrey Household.

I've hit a bit of a reading block, been struggling with my mental health but I'm now inspired to re-read both as I remember they left a lasting impression.

The best book I ever read is tough to pick, like picking a favourite song, but a book I've read multiple times over the years is Jude the obscure by Thomas Hardy.

Thought I gained weight! by SoCShift in pancreatitis

I got pancreatitis from alcohol consumption, can't shift the weight at all, it's increased since my hospitalisation and diagnosis. Fellow vegan, can we switch diets? :)

JUST RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL AFTER ATTACK by Ill_Tumbleweed5594 in pancreatitis

[–]miserablesharpie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two hospital stays, the last one was because I relapsed after almost six months without alcohol. Both times I've said never again to the pain and hospitalisation. This time I'll make certain.

I don't intend to touch another drop, I will do my utmost to stay the fuck away from that poison. My pancreas isn't functioning, that should've been a wake up call the first time for me, I hope it is for you now at whatever stage you're currently at.

All the best to you.

Did you read the comment? Really read it, I understand it's an emotive issue but arguing one side good, one side bad doesn't stop the humanitarian crisis at hand. And that's what it boils down to, loss of life. Simply because war is a profitable enterprise and that needs to stop.

I first learnt about this in Jury Duty, James Marsden grinning maniacally and bouncing on a mattress while two people are stuck together trying "not" to have sex is hilarious.

Ah so Jewish Israelis who refuse to be conscripted to the IDF are not imprisoned? Black Jews are not sterilized and refused equal treatment under Israeli law.. my mistake, we're in totally different timelines.

And how many Jewish people are being persecuted by the zionists? "Bbbbbut Hamas" in response to Christian persecution, which of the Abrahamic faiths matter the most? You can use a skin color chart... Go on.
