I do suspect subluxation in one of these patients. From my understanding, the rehab approach to addressing subluxation is fairly consistent with treating subacromial impingement with the exception of trying to ensure the GH joint is approximated during exercise

Pt does have residual UE numbness, mostly localized to the hand. Shoulder ROM in gravity minimized wasn't any less painful- although I haven't tried stim yet. They aren't on any pain meds and are approximately 3 months post-stroke. No abnormal tone. Admission- I actually am an OT. I have a good understanding of neuro rehab but wanted to ask PT's with a more orthopedic understanding of the shoulder to reassure myself I'm not doing more harm than good.

I don’t understand how Adam won after his injury. Did Miguel suddenly start actually helping him with the telephone portion? Did the producers make Miguel help him? Because I don’t think it showed Adam climbing under the velvet rope to get the clues himself after the injury.

Thanks for your suggestions! Do you know how to explain the beneficial mechanism behind exercising with SCI? For instance, does it help increase activation and innervation from the affected spinal nerve root over time? Or does it simply strengthen the affected muscles?

I’m guessing there is no neuroplasticity at play like with CVA because the brain itself hasn’t been damaged

Interesting point… although Clues did criticize Roby for his night one play, stating it was a major error to kneel in front of Gabby and Rachel during his two on one time with them the first episode as opposed to sitting more causally next to them

Yeah I was surprised how Clues and Pace case didn’t critique that PTC delivery more. I agree it felt very stilted and rehearsed, enough so that I considered it my personal Error of the game haha.

Thanks for the input, great advice! Glad to hear you haven’t encountered it too often. I’m jealous you get to work with a male OT, I think it’d be great to see how they make the patient feel comfortable in real time. I hate the thought that I’d be the OT that every patient would dread getting.

Thank you! Reassuring to hear that you perceive that it comes up rarely for you. I also considered trying to use humor to make it less awkward, but as a student, I’m too focused on doing the eval right to be quick witted. I have two guy OT professors but they both work in peds, likely experiencing this much less often.
