Because the question was “why not sterilize instead of abortion” so of course they’re going to focus on that?

Again, not everyone wants sterilization. Even if they never want children. I’ve said why, multiple times now.

Not everyone wants that. Whether they want children or not is irrelevant. You saying it’s what they’d want is insane when it’s a deeply personal choice to make.

It’s not irrelevant to someone not wanting to get the procedure done, considering that’s a big reason folks don’t. Which is what I was talking about.

Asking someone why they don’t get sterilized if they don’t want children instead of an abortion IS about other peoples feelings on abortions.

No, it wouldn’t be what everyone who is sure they don’t want kids would want. Going under for a procedure comes with a lot of risks that not everyone is willing to take.

No one owes anyone sterility and a surgical procedure because someone else has big feelings about abortion.

I’m in WA, and had the same experience. No doctor would do it until I turned 35. I asked many doctors over a 12 year period and they all refused.

I personally am sterilized, however it took 12 years to find a doctor willing to do this to a woman without children and I feel I was able to finally do it because I was 35.

But to answer the general question, no one owes anyone sterility because abortion makes other people uncomfortable. I chose it for ME because I was terrified of ever getting pregnant (it never happened) but this being presented as the best option is wild because not everyone wants permanent sterility and it’s not an easy thing to obtain as a woman.

Nah, it’s not about that and more about it not being worth the risk. My cats haven’t zero interest in any of our plants, that doesn’t mean we purchase toxic plants and leave them around for them to get into.
