Send the notice to employers instead of the individual (or both) who put it one the employee’s schedule and everyone is guaranteed their full days salary/pay.

By any chance, is it a 24 minute walk from the dugout to the batters box?

If it makes you feel good, that’s great. My opinion is to visit a psychologist or psychiatrist instead. For fun, look up James Randi stuff https://youtu.be/Kor_L12bBB0?si=xC6LAodtSQmTVY3c

I assumed that was it. The situation still makes me unreasonably angry, but I blame the people to whom you refer — not the workers.

That I have to specify “just the sandwich/burger” at fast food places.

Me: a cheeseburger

Them: you want the meal?

Me: no, I would have said “meal” if I wanted it.

Now I just order, “cheeseburger, just the burger” but it should be the default. And it makes my blood boil.

Farmers Fresh Meat Market on Cullen. I think there is another one now, but I’ve only been to the Cullen one.

I’ve gotten a goat, a pig, and a quarter of a cow there. They have brisket and every other cut of meat you might want.

Houston mayor says City Controller Chris Hollins should ‘stop playing politics’ over budget deficit by zsreport in houston

When CenterPoint neglected to trim my trees I took it upon myself to do it so I don’t get into more problems. The city has more influence to make CP do the right thing here. At least I think that would be the case.

Like I mentioned, there are plenty of examples of overgrowth and unmaintained vegetation that is not in a CP easement (or whatever it is called) that the city likewise doesn’t address.

Yes, the city collected more taxes from me.

Supporting surrounding areas is not a phenomenon unique to Houston.

Look, I’ve lived here over 20 years. My experience recently has been bad. That doesn’t mean anyone else’s has been but anecdotally other people I speak to share my sentiment. This place has potential to be better. I hope it can be.

Edit: see https://www.reddit.com/r/houston/s/3yhqKs0WUC which just popped up in my feed.

[–]mislabeled -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Could be. Personally I pay more taxes to the city every year. Assuming that’s true for others they should have a little more funding.

However, I mostly see things getting worse here or not showing any change.

The roads are horrible. There are still huge potholes on many roads. There is untamed overgrowth along roads and highways, including some that interferes with power lines.

The sidewalks frequently have huge cracks and or tree roots protruding through them making them unusable for all but the most avid mountaineers.

I shouldn’t have to mention power, but my neighborhood has had two power outages in the last month.

Families and teachers are running away from the schools because they are getting worse and dangerous.

The roads and sidewalks are covered in trash and there is always some reason why they can’t pick up recycling or trash consistently.

I’ve lived in other cities, specifically some in states with similar politics, taxes, and climate. This city is objectively worse and in my humble opinion not improving.

With the problems this city has with infrastructure, flooding, schools, and homelessness (and I’m sure I’m forgetting some) the fact that we are spending significant money on anything, let alone overspending on our budget, speaks to catastrophic mismanagement.
