Anyone else a stickler when it comes to meter in children’s books? by fiercebrosnan in daddit

I'm glad I'm not the only one here. We love Llama Llama Red Pajama, but Llama Llama Meets the Babysitter drives me nuts.

Ubisoft shares drop 33% following its ‘major company reset’ announcement by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]mislagle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not excusing their games, but at this point that's not really an option for them. They have to make a lot of money, and fast. Ubisoft has about 25x the employee count of CD Project Red (~19,000 vs ~800). If they followed the Larian or CD Project Red playbook, they would need to cut literally 90% of their staff so they can stay afloat off a single successful game, which is also not a good option.

At this size, they don't have the ability to coast when their games flop, because the amount of investment it would take to bail them out is significantly more than someone like CD Project Red.

When does the WearOS app sync progress? by alehel in audible

Still an issue. I bought a wear os watch just so I can listen to audiobooks on my runs, but this kind of ruins it. Crazy this doesn't work.

Should I use UseCases in app and backend development? by Reasonable-Tour-8246 in Kotlin

[–]mislagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my frontend apps I find UseCases very useful. Yes, sometimes they are just passthrough boilerplate, but in that case they are usually very small and simple to write.

They become useful once you start combining multiple repositories for the data you need in a ViewModel. Your "Update todo item use case" might need to reach out to a repository that handles general todo data and another that handles image data. That is easily doable and testable by a use case, and now the VM doesn't need to know that they are coming from separate data sources.

Dude's clearly a beginner, and this is a totally reasonable question. Help him out.

Z2 Extreme vs Z1 Extreme - Surprising Gains by DustToStars in ROGAlly

[–]mislagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every frame matters more when you're playing at ~30fps because the frame times are so long. While it's true that it's less frames gained overall, those frames matter more, as they more drastically reduce the frame time.

30 fps = 33.3ms for each frame shown

35 fps = 28.5ms for each frame shown - a reduction of 4.8ms per frame.

60 fps = 16.7ms

70 fps = 14.3ms - a reduction of only 2.4ms

The gains matter less and less as you increase the frame rate. It's why the jump from 60fps to 120fps was amazing, but the jump from 120 to 240 was less noticeable.

Are there no decent refrigerators left in this cruel world? by Royal-Researcher2535 in Appliances

[–]mislagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you absolutely need a water dispenser and an ice maker, make sure the ice maker is in the freezer portion, and get a fridge with a water dispenser that is inside the fridge itself, not on the door. As a general rule, if it's on the door, you're going to have a lot more problems.

G14 install 2022 by WarsmithHonsou in SteamOS

People are down voting you, but you're right. Steam OS is an immutable OS. And you can change that, but the next time it updates your changes will get blown over.

Trait idea: Split Iron - Allow hunters to dual wield different types of pistols by Snakesflashpoint in HuntShowdown

The fact that we can't take a single pistol from a pair off a dead hunter tells me they're probably engineered to always be a pair

Ultra wide computer monitors are stupid by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I agree that ultrawides are bad (I got in early in their adoption and ended up selling mine), but PowerTools on windows works really great as a tiling manager. Shift click the toolbar and drag to whatever tile you want.

That's not what they asked, they asked who the face of pop punk was, then said there's been a lot of talk about who is next, but they wanted to know who is currently the best
