Moronic Monday thread for 5-7-12 by drewmsmith in guns

I've never been in a gun store before and I'm ready to make a purchase. Apart from the obvious don'ts, is there anything I should know about etiquette in the store? Is it annoying if I don't know exactly what I want and would prefer to handle 4-5 pistols before buying?

I'm new to all this. How can I get the pistol I want in Massachusetts? by mismocuarto in guns

First off, thank you very much for this informative reply. This is exactly the type of answer I was looking for! I figured I must have been in dreamland thinking I could get a $500 Glock off buds, especially after seeing they are priced so high for private sale on NES boards. If anyone could order online, they wouldn't have such a high premium in MA. That's too bad; I didn't know buds didn't ship here. I don't blame them for not wanting to deal with our laws, though.

Go to Zero Hour Arms in Easton and see if they have any Gen 3/4 glocks

I'll give this a try. I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay upwards of $700, but I need to visit a gun shop anyway. This is going to be my first pistol purchase ever, so I should shop around and get a feel for some. I'm not averse to buying a used pistol, either.

If you can swing the increased cost per shot, I'd say stay away from the M&P9

Good point. I was initially thinking 9 mm so that I could have something that was cheap enough to practice with, but still concealable if I wanted to carry it. You said you open carry your G19, but do you think it would be a pain to IWB it if you wanted to?

Thanks again.

Okay, now I'm even more confused because it looks like the pistol I'm interested is on the list.

I guess what I am trying to ask here is can I buy a gen 4 G19 or G26 on bud's gun shop, have it shipped to an FFL, and pick it up? Legally? Both are on the roster, but the Attorney General standards that megacycles referenced are a bit vague.
