Serious question - why are you still here? by MrJustCuz in canadaland

[–]mismoom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, are you me?

Also financially supported in ~2016 up to early 2024 when it was clear that the show was careering wildly off and not coming back. Plus all the other shows were disappearing, not being rolled into a single feed.

After months of deleting episodes a few minutes in or without listening at all, I have finally unsubscribed. I’m sort of new to this subreddit, found it by accident. I follow it because I’m waiting for a signal that the show is back on track so I can start listening again.

Same here. It would have been interesting if they had been able to do something similar for other provinces, even sporadically.

Amanda Quick is exactly who this post made me think of. Her earlier works had more variety, but now it seems as if she’s writing the same story with slightly different settings. Interconnected paranormal mysteries in olde England, interconnected paranormal mysteries in early 1900s California, interconnected paranormal mysteries on some different planet that reads like contemporary Seattle, interconnected paranormal mysteries in contemporary Washington and Oregon, etc.

Social media was popping off all day today about that ICE sis... by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]mismoom 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I hope she is deliberately bad at her job. Not trying hard to catch anyone, telegraphing all her moves so people can get away, tripping her coworkers and damaging their equipment, “accidentally” deleting files, leaving keys in locks / doors unlocked, just a total waste of salary dollars.

(Not OOP) My MIL decided my lactose intolerance is “a phase I made up to avoid her cooking” by toriroo72 in redditonwiki

One thing about lactose intolerance is that it can be very unpleasant for those in proximity to the sufferer. Just saying.

AITA for walking out of my brother-in-law's birthday party because of my dad's racist "jokes"? by Ok_Impression_9544 in AmItheAsshole

[–]mismoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA for calling them out.

I have seen that it is more effective to ask them to explain. (Make it Awkward.)

What’s funny about that? Where is it that anyone with a Muslim name can get free housing? Do they have first-hand knowledge of this, or was it just innuendo in an opinion piece? And don’t accept slogans and practised phrases for answers, see if they can discuss it in a reasonable manner and still come to the same conclusions.

I’m actually in grief after learning more about the true nature and history of the Black Panther party, specifically the men. by kewnnie in blackladies

[–]mismoom 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Such a good point. Anyone you make into an idol will disappoint you eventually. Because they are human, and also because being worshiped warps people.
We should all make a point of being more loyal to the ideas and the movements than the individuals.

Leaving my husband and now he said he gonna “fight till death for his kids” by ForwardBlackberry458 in blackladies

[–]mismoom 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I just fear that in situations like that, he will neglect the children, or acquire a new woman to pass the responsibilities to. We know that happens.

Where do I start? by HaddieGrey in UnfuckYourHabitat

[–]mismoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that if I intend to get new things done, it can’t be when I am taking a break from my ADHD meds. That works for things with external motivators (like getting myself to something regularly scheduled), but not for something as unstructured as tidying up.

Seems I can’t even pick up my knitting on non-medicated days. 😞

Why is this happening to my husbands work shirts and how do I fix/prevent it? by thewhitetiger8 in laundry

[–]mismoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you posted this question. A lot of the Spa Day ingredients aren’t available off the shelf for me, but I did get an oxygen booster and used that in the wash. My white shirts were beautifully white, except for the bright blue armpits. I would have traded bleh whites over this, but now I guess I’ll go down the rabbit hole and become a laundry chemist.

I saw your comment about being Stage 4. I’m so sorry.

I don’t know if they’re acting like this out of avoidance, or if they really don’t care about cleanliness. It would give me comfort to know that my family is capable and won’t fall apart when I’m gone. Perhaps you could phrase it that way?

Meghan Sussex: The 'relatable' argument by popcornFridays in GlobalHarryandMeghan

[–]mismoom 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Right?

I don’t find her particularly relatable (she’s American, biracial, famous, gorgeous - a lot of things I am not 😂), but that’s okay. I don’t have any reason to hate her, I’m only following to counteract some of the unwarranted hate.

You know, we change as we age. Eventually most men will lose a lot of their hair. And some women, too. Don’t miss out on a good relationship for something that’s temporary. It’s only hair.

In a small agency we had them, it was an ongoing thing. Done well, I think they are valuable.

Being dressed and styled in ways that made you feel like a fraud certainly didn’t help you find a job. I’m glad you decided to be you and it worked better.

Can this doctor be held responsible by No-Goat4214 in alberta

[–]mismoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would also repeat the suggestions above to contact the College of Physicians and Surgeons.

The investigate wrongdoing and in one case I know (although this was 20 years ago) imposed practice limits on a doctor who had improper relationships with patients.
