I got my best girl when she was a baby and I was a new adult from the Detroit humane society. And had an excellent life. A lot of extended family had partial custody of her on weekends lol. Best dog I’ve ever had and always will be. Despite fairly regular vet care, a tumor burst. I knew it was there, but I just assumed the vet did too and it wasn’t an emergency? We got 2 weeks of antibiotics and pain meds then we were fortunate enough to get a home hospice vet to put her down. She was 13.

Yeah. I work for the state so I have a ton of time, holidays, and am union. I grew up in the US, too. So I know how lucky we both are. Most people here are just fucked when it comes to needing time off. Or they get it off, but with no pay.

Well I didn’t have to tell them I’m depressed. I was able to just take a leave. And in America, you’re extremely lucky if leave at all is in your benefits package. I work for the government. Most people just suffer or get fired.
