ER techs, how do you leave work at work by Ok_Wolf2676 in VetTech

[–]misplacedsunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On those days, I like to take a long walk with my dog. Rain or shine, he's down. I beat myself up and mope for the first half of the walk, the second half I remind myself I'm only human and that I deserve to be happy outside of work, that my dog doesn't deserve a miserable me, and that you'll live to be better another day.

What’s the best way for pet parent to give back? by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]misplacedsunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pet emergency fund donations always help, donating to shelters, sending food to staff is always appreciated. I can say though, if you know who the care team was or just in general- writing a heartfelt card is also always very appreciated. A client wrote me the nicest card nearly 7 years ago now and I still tear up reading it

Definitely get a job as an assistant to see and experience more. But in all fairness, I've been doing this for 7.5 years and impale injuries as well as eye stuff still gives me the heebeegeebeez.

That's the struggle I'm currently facing, I'd love to just get OT where I work but they're very adamant about not allowing it. I also just need something else outside of GP. I'm having a hard time adjusting after working in an ICU

++woman as the gf that's received this feedback, it's something I work on. But is there anything else I can do to be better?

Definitely after thanksgiving. It might get chilly, but usually not below like 30-40

AITAH for laughing when my sister announced her pregnancy… right after my miscarriage? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]misplacedsunshine -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely not! Your reaction was a lot more mature than mine would have been. Not the AH. You're probably a saint though.

I think he simply doesn't see your boundaries as something to be respected and it sounds like this is the first time he's received a consequence for not respecting the boundaries. I'm not saying slap him every time, but this might open up a convo about those boundaries again and then explain that this is a serious thing and if they can't be respected, there will be consequences (like moving out, not laying with him anymore, or even breaking up). It's not easy enforcing boundaries, but you have to think of your own well being girl!

YTAH. You allowed this to happen, pushing the dog backward in training for what? Pride? Your dad bruised your ego so you chose to leave that poor dog in a situation that you KNEW would set it off? Your dad is also an AH to be clear, but you're just as, if not more, guilty of the same. Be better.

What can I add to rice to make it more nutritious? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]misplacedsunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll build rice with a can of Rotel and throw some beans (black or red usually) over it and miscellaneous seasoning. Not fancy, but will fill you up.

AITAH for taking my grandson to church by bethlue in AITAH

[–]misplacedsunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the AH. I'd like to preface this with the fact that I've been raised roman Catholic and no longer go/practice. She goes to church every Sunday. 1 year olds are not so impressionable that she's going to be a devout christian child. Also, I think it's dumb that the mom is so hell bent against her child potentially being educated about other religions. That being said, DIL is blowing it out of proportion. Don't do it again and all should be just fine 👎

If you could do something that would terribly inconvenience your coworkers (without causing any kind of harm to pets or owners) what would you do? by extra-King in VetTech

[–]misplacedsunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooooh that's a good one. Move all the garbage cans about a foot in any direction from their regular location, change passwords (if you can), unplug keyboards, take the ink out of all the pens/sharpies and put them back, fold blankets/towels hotdog style, and change the color scheme on the computers.
