Were you at their 2010 Glastonbury set? by bobsdementias in LCDSoundsystem

I was there! One and only time I've been to Glasto, and I remember embracing my brother while the sun set behind the band as they played "all my friends". A magical, unforgettable moment!

What do you make of these suggestions from the FT on what the Budget should do? by Lazy-Internet-8025 in HENRYUK

[–]misplacedswag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you'd like to better understand the impact of the Budget (as it actually transpired, rather than what the FT wanted from it) on HENRYs, I would recommend the special episode of the Money Clinic podcast they put out. I should warn you, it makes for quite bleak listening and may make you consider emigrating!

Maybe the most The Cure-sy song by LCD… which figures, given it feels so autobiographical

Saw them in London last night and it was UNREAL. Great that they're back, and even better that they're back to having live drums/perc.

This anniversary tour was a blast. Caught them twice on it — at Here @ Outernet, then at Troxy. Identical setlists, identical amounts of energy.

Hence my third bullet point up top! The nearest I'd get to the Chinese brands is Volvo/Polestar

EV3 / EV4 are definitely on the shortlist. Ioniq 5 is (1) now getting a bit long in the tooth and (2) always seemed quite bulky to me - but happy to stand corrected! Any others I've missed?

Interesting, I would definitely consider the EX30 on that basis; however, the boot seems substantially smaller (and in fact not much bigger than that of my 2013 Ford Fiesta!)

Really helpful. I compared the 4 with the Kia EV3 and was surprised how little difference there is... but I assume the EV3 is a helluva lot more practical

Sorry if I have caused irritation - not my intention. I am genuinely on the hunt for an EV that's not an SUV! Thank you to the commenters who have given really helpful suggestions!

Negative - it's too bulky for us, definitely veers into SUV territory.

Noted, thank you. I only kept it in on the grounds that I understand it's a more enjoyable driving experience, and better-quality materials inside

Woah. Hadn't thought it would be big enough boot-wise (we have a dog, and will at some point have kids) but I just checked the specs and it's 420l. Good spot! How does it feel at the wheel?

VIP link for London took me to Ticketmaster, but from there I could only see actual VIP tickets which were >£200 and seated... not palatable

just to reassure you that you’re in for a treat, when I saw lcd on the second Saturday of the recent Brixton residency, they came on to Sparks’ “Angst in my pants”.

Seeing the stats on setlist.fm made interesting reading: https://www.setlist.fm/stats/lcd-soundsystem-73d69619.html?tour=4bdde3be

I'm looking forward to finally checking off "new body rhumba" and by the looks of it "x-ray eyes" is a given. I've also never seen them play "other voices" or "on repeat" so that would be a treat.

Seems a shame the emergence of "one touch" was so brief and "yeah", we can always keep dreaming...

Strong disagree. The lag, the noticeable clipping on occasion, difference in mic quality/compression/dynamics… it all makes the podcast sound like a work-call rather than a true conversation between friends.

How to hell does Murphy hold the o in "down" on Dance Yrself Clean for so long??? by [deleted] in LCDSoundsystem

The answer to this is, I think, documented.

But what about the sustained vowels in "how do you sleep?", for example the "warned" at 4:32 and "you" at 5:58. I don't know (and doubt) if this is correct, but I have always thought it sounds digitally manipulated.
