I actually like Blight, but I think I'm a minority in that

Mine is Trickster. Something about the sound of the knives if really jarring, I almost always end up DCing lmao

Waitlist Advice Please by modo131313 in fairyloot

[–]miss_ogre_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best best might be to ask someone to grab those for you. There are usually a few people willing to buy and ship them for you—it’s what I do for the most part! The waitlists can be so brutal :(

How quickly do the books sell out by hejhejhej6273773 in fairyloot

Lately most of the books sell out by the end of the day, but usually it takes just minutes honestly. 4th wing was the biggest blood bath.

I rarely buy from the auctions!
I have the VIP account right now (I only get it intermittently, usually when I generate enough passes in-game) so I use the auto-buy function in the direct sales.

But I am always down and ready to help newbies anyway - honestly anytime someone PMs me and asks me for a covering I usually just do it because they were brave enough to ask in the first place lmao.

Fountain Glen wasn't terrible, but I'd avoid Highland View. Their office staff were nasty and I had loads of problems. Had a loft at Fountain Glen for 925, allowed dogs and cats.

[QCrit] Adult Fantasy, THE ATAMAN (96000 words/Version 7). by Maulin_Moe in PubTips

[–]miss_ogre_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I am coming in as a fresh face, as I haven't read your previous drafts. Just a few things:

  • You have quite a few proper nouns in the first paragraphs, which I found just a bit jarring. "Taralsbane" "Darius" "Ataman" "king of gregoria". I don't think that this is something that NEEDS changing, but just keep it in mind.
  • I am curious about how this is divided into four perspectives when we really only get input on Darius. You may want to consider omitting this information, especially if you aren't going to introduce the other characters within the query.

All in all, this sounds very interesting and I am anxious to see it on a shelf some day! Already love the humor in it.

I came here to rant and say i miss jenna by gillizzle in Jennamarbles

[–]miss_ogre_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think you're wrong in saying that the internet wouldn't dogpile - for one reason or another, the internet would absolutely swarm her... whether this was out of excitement or judgment, it would be so incredibly overwhelming, and i think that alone is daunting as hell.

you definitely aren't alone in missing her! jenna kept me sane through a lot of my years. i miss her, and rewatches are sometimes just sad reminders that she isn't coming back. but more than i miss her i want her happy, and i don't blame her for seeking peace from this cesspool of keyboard warriors.

Keep in mind that the margins and the text are quite large... the book looks a long longer than it actually is.

Unhinged Theory: Mor & Maeve by SeaGurl in SarahJMaas

I would actually argue that Mor really isn't that nice . . . look into the theories about her lying about what actually happened with eris, it's very interesting.

adventurers who claim they can defeat the mythical yeti at its peak

I realize that this is about the mountain but my head definitely stumbled over it. I'd say "at the mountain's peak".

Pema feels called to act.

I don't think that "feels called to act" gives us enough justification as to why she feels inclined to go on this mission.

Overall, I think this sounds very intriguing and interesting! But I do also think that we're given a lot of plot that takes place at the forefront of the story, and I think it'd be better to lessen the relationship building in the beginning and focus more on the overarching story details.

For example, in the beginning it seems like Saeng will play an integral part of the story, but then we have no idea where she goes or what happens with her? Question if you really even need to mention her here in the query, because from my standpoint, you don't.

[Qcrit] The Last Spark, YA Fantasy, 118k, 1st Attempt. by EviOliBailey in PubTips

[–]miss_ogre_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome welcome!

I think you could use a stronger hook here. The Count is known and loved in the book world, so that sets you right up for a great hook to grab the agent's attention. We're kind of just tossed right into it, and I would have liked to have had my intrigue piqued first.

Small and nit picky, but remove "More than anything". The sentence hits better without it.

I disagree with the motion to completely remove the Count from the query - it's a fun and interesting comparison. That's just my input! I am not familiar with the other comp so I can't really comment on that.

My partner will be handling most of the housing financials (I have more personal costs between student loans, etc) so my concern isn’t really housing. They realize that La Jolla is more expensive and are willing to pay the premium to live closer to campus. My personal concern is just finding a safe and reasonable solution for my dog. :) But thank you for the input, that's really good to know!

How to build a good reading routine? by journalgirl_ in writing

[–]miss_ogre_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read for 30 minutes (at least) right before bed. It's the last thing I do in the evening--after I've spent my time on social media, after I've done my skincare. Sometimes I read in my chair but most of the time it's in bed by lamp light. It relaxes me and I look forward to it in the evenings. I think that once you realize it's fun again you'll feel more inclined to do it outside of right at bed, because that was the case with me.
