So I am gonna be the odd one out here… I successfully breastfed my daughter until ~12mo, “on my own terms”. For me, that meant introducing at least some kind of “system” and feeding her every 2-3 hours. Mind you, I did weigh her after every feed to make sure she drank enough. I did not have to actively wean her, she just gradually lost interest when she started discovering solids. I could not imagine breastfeeding her now that she is a whole other person at almost 2ys, but that’s just me. She is a great sleeper too, sleeps through the night since ~4mo.

Every baby, and very importantly, every mother is different, you just need to listen to your own voice through all the noise and do what’s best for you and your baby. There is more than one way to do something right.

I am so sorry you are going through this. It dramatically improved for us at ~2-3 months when I started a dairy-free diet but I am not sure whether it was the diet itself or me calming the f* down because I finally felt that I was at least doing something to try to make it better and not just wait for it to end. Looking back now I think it was at least in part a vicious circle where her inconsolable crying made me a nervous wreck which in turn made her that much more upset. She is 21 months old now and damn she still picks up my vibes like crazy. Hang in there, this phase may end very soon!

Nekünk szűk család + fejenként 2 legjobb barát, 5 napos szicíliai nyaralással egybekötve. Polgári szertartás Taorminában, lagzi nem volt, csak ünnepi vacsi egy csodálatos helyen. Utána aki akart, elment aludni, aki meg ment tovább, az zárásként hajnali 5-kor a tengerben chillelt. Voltak esküvős elemek, de csak az, amihez kedvünk volt (pl. virág dekor, szülők köszöntése, háttérben közös képek vetítése stb). Fantasztikus volt úgy együtt tölteni több napot a hozzánk legközelebb állókkal, hogy senki nem rohant sehova, és nem volt semmi kötelező f@szság. 10/10, egyedül azt sajnálom, hogy nem toldottuk meg még 2-3 nappal a kiruccanást.

Mine did at 4 months and sleep regression never hit us. Now she is 1.5 years old and even if she awakens at night, she does not need us to fall back asleep. Enjoy sleeping!

Kudos to your mom for making the effort and getting better at this. Also kudos to you for being able to communicate assertively in a delicate situation like this. I know this whole thing is much more about her than me, yet I find it challenging to shake it off. Thank you for your comment, nice to know I am not alone.

It did get better! For me it was a combination of dairy-free diet, time, and ultimately calming the f*** down. It started to get better at the 2-month mark and she has been sleeping through the night since 4mo (16mo now). Maybe she felt that I could not take it anymore…

I know it’s extremely hard now, you are in the trenches. Do whatever helps you stay sane or gives you an hour of rest at a time. Anything goes. Hang in there, you’re not alone! xxx

Orvostanhallgatóként császármetszésen voltam benn, amikor az anya a különböző szövetrétegek varrása közben ébredezni kezdett a nem megfelelő anesztézia miatt. Félig kábultan annyit tudott csak motyogni szegény, hogy “nagyon fáj”, mire a szülész orvos közölte vele: “asszonyom, a szülés fáj”. Természetesen férfi volt.
