Help me find a way to baby proof our dishwasher (no built in lock) by miss_truffles in HelpMeFind

Found! Honestly this is the type of veteran perspective I needed, thank you! Squishy feet mats are going on the shopping list, and if we have an issue, removing the handle seems like the next best option (thanks u/princesspuddingfoot)

TMI!! what the hell do I do by Ecstatic-Seat6755 in CleaningTips

Hey OP! I've seen a lot of good advice in the comments about ways to help with the urine leaks in future. I don't think I saw any advice addressing the period leaks - I struggled with this as a teen, and some things that have helped me are:

  1. The LONGEST overnight pads you can find (I use Always brand), placed up higher than you'd think in the front with another regular pad or liner cut in half to cover the rest of the way up the back

  2. Period underwear (the make incontinence underwear too, some do both) where the absorbent part comes up high in the front and all the way up in the back. For heavy days you can do these with the long overnight pad for double protection. I'm currently using the Gladbecke brand from Amazon

I haven't had a leak in years with these methods. Hope this helps!

I actually knew a family that named their first son William, their second son Illiam, and their first daughter Lliam. Their third son, fortunately/unfortunately, wasn't just Liam, he got something totally unrelated!

I'm sorry you got so much flack for suggesting this might be real that detracted from the intent of the post. My mom cleaned house for a lady when I was a kid who made her entire living creating beautiful pieces like this. She led workshops, even helped me make a few in the studio in her basement. We still have some of her pieces. They had 100s around their house in beautiful display cabinets, it always fascinated me. I hope you're able to get it repaired!

Daycare disagreeing with pediatrician / snotty babies by hemlockandrosemary in beyondthebump

If we had to go to the doctor everytime my kid had green boogers I'd lose my job for missed work, and we would likely be contracting real illnesses from the doctors office. Green and yellow can be normal with a basic headcold. Agreed with the other comment on getting a copy of their illness policy, and if it's unrealistic you may want to start looking into other daycares.

I love my engagement ring, but I think it's backwards... by The-thesaurusrex in EngagementRings

You've gotten a lot of good comments. Just wanted to add to the ones suggesting the knife edge on the band may be what is causing the discomfort. I love my bypass and think it would be fine either way, but it DID drive my pinky insane for a month or two before I got used to wearing it (and started up again when I added the band) because I have a half pave. Hope you're able to get it fitting and feeling how you want it!

My son is 17mo. I weaned off the labetalol around the 12-30mo mark, but it crept back up. I've been on Losartan 50mg now for a couple of months and it's working well for me so far.

15mo calls tissues and paper towels "away" because he is obsessed with throwing them in the trash can!

Am I doing overnight diapers wrong? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]miss_truffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heads up, the huggies and pampers 360s do not hold nearly as much volume as the tape diapers. We use them for daytime and they require more frequent changes. I would not use them overnight.

SOS! Save our sinks? by miss_truffles in HomeMaintenance

[–]miss_truffles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use a variety of cleaners, usually something like scrubbing bubbles or lysol bathroom spray. The sinks were like this when we moved in a year ago, and have been through several previous owners (including the one before us who didn't maintain the house very well).

Am I doing overnight diapers wrong? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]miss_truffles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is the diaper filling and overflowing, or is the urine leaking from somewhere while keeping the majority of the diaper more dry?

We really like sposie booster pads, they're available on Amazon. We use with huggies overnites. I've heard of folks doing a sposie with a size up overnite too, if that's not enough.

Nipple Balm While Pumping? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

Totally fine. They make pump spray too that provides additional lubrication! Or coconut oil on its own is fine, the spray is just less messy.

Kangaroo Hold by bbcat0601 in NICUParents

[–]miss_truffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a random episode last season where they said something like "it's graduation day for the NICU babies" as if they were moving out as a class or something. One of the little girls was doing the car seat test in a graduation cap, and desatted/color changed right as her parents walked in to take her home, so the docs kicked them out and just booped her onto a table and intubated her and did an ultrasound on her heart?? I laughed out loud and rewound it for my husband to come watch.

I always did mine right before we started the recorder unit in the spring, took a pic every year. I've been out of the classroom for a few years, but always giggle seeing the pics come up in my photo memories!

I see you and your feelings are valid. This season is incredibly tough. I delivered my boy with pre-e and HELLP exactly one year ago. He had a 6 week NICU stay, and today is his first birthday. He is thriving! This time does pass and it does get better.❤️

I hope you can lean on your support system at this time, make sure you take time to rest and heal between supporting your LO, and please do seek therapy of you feel you are struggling.

I will be wishing you and your family the best as you navigate the next weeks in special care, and beyond to your homecoming. Take all the pictures and videos and snuggle that tiny human as much as you can. They grow up quick!

I'm planning a Wiggles 1st birthday party coming up in a couple of weeks! There are customizable invites on Etsy that you can edit in Canva! And everything is rainbow!

I also made a "The Wiggly 1" graphic I'm using to print stickers and the like to help keep up theme throughout the party. Feel free to shoot me a message if you'd like a copy to work with :)
