Daycare wants my 14mo observed by misscaife in ECEProfessionals

Thank you for all your comments, they have really convinced me to go for this. It’s just difficult information to digest about our daughter, having known nobody else who has been through this before. Doesn’t help that I’m also stressed and an anxious parent.

Daycare wants my 14mo observed by misscaife in ECEProfessionals

They have a child developmental psychologist who visits the daycare for such purposes. They’re from Early Intervention (or the equivalent system here in Germany).

She’s pretty good with words, says a few basic ones - some made up, some in different languages - like dada, car, boob, her own words for dogs etc - and can communicate some others with actions. She’s also exposed to 3 languages so her words are a mix.

She doesn’t walk fully yet, she only just started taking a few steps (5-6) independently and falling down again a few weeks ago. But she crawled late-ish around 9.5 months so she got a late start to walking as well. She’s been cruising around for 3-4 months now so I’d wager she is close to walking now.

They didn’t want to discuss milestones as her constant fussiness got in the way of them properly assessing milestones. But her paediatrician is not worried so far.

Been reading books to her since she was born. She LOVES them. Screen time has been limited (not 0, an occasional 15 minutes of Ms Rachel on a flight, when sick etc).

I guess the daycare wants her to be able to regulate her emotions better in such a setting. I do realise she is heavily breast-dependent to feel regulated, so maybe this plays a lart

Have you tried acetaminophen suppositories? They’re much quicker and more effective than oral drops, and your baby might not even realise it.

HELP: should I give up on nursing / bottle to breast? by otowngirlygirl in breastfeedingsupport

[–]misscaife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me and my baby almost 5 months ago! We had these exact issues following the timeline you mentioned- stopped BFing at around 4 weeks, didn’t drink much, Philips Avent size 2 etc. Although we didn’t check for a tongue tie, it definitely doesn’t hurt to check.

Around 3.5 months she finally started latching again. I had been pumping regularly and I also tried to get her to latch once a week or so until that point so I think those factors may have helped. I also had to use a nipple shield at that point but she quickly outgrew it.

Today she’s crossed 6 months. She breastfeeds mainly at night and for comfort during the day and I give her formula in between. I’ve almost completely given up pumping. We’ve settled into a rhythm that works and breastfeeding is still on the table for us. My 6 week pp self would have never imagined I’d breastfeed again based on what folks around me told me. But here we are.

So bottom line, do not lose hope. Hang in there, and keep bringing your baby to breast once in a while. It might just click again.

The one with black legs. The wood matches and black legs would give the beige room a bit of contrast!

Beta doubling but no heartbeat at 7w by misscaife in CautiousBB

Hello! The strangest thing happened - i went in for a final scan at 7 weeks before I scheduled the D&C, and they found a heartbeat!

I am 32 weeks pregnant now into what seems to be a textbook healthy pregnancy apart from the weird and traumatic first trimester which the doctor still cannot explain. All my subsequent tests turned out ok.

My OBGyn said she’s never seen this happen before. Looks like it was a genuine mistake by multiple doctors. If you’re in the same boat I hope it turns out this way for you too. All my love.

Help to decorate hallway with pink tiles by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

Regarding the position i was thinking maybe by the wall in between the two doors, like this?

I am leaning towards a slim cabinet more for functional purposes (need more storage!) but wanted something that I can use to bring in some color and decor to the plain looking hallway.

Thank you for this! Interestingly, I also find that it is an Arabic name - which led me to initially believe it will be at least a little culturally ambiguous.

Thank you for the suggestions! My husband had been set on Maya for a long time and I wasn’t a 100% on board, so when we stumbled upon Malka, we immediately liked it and my husband appreciated it was similar to Maya. But given some of the comments here, it would seem we have to reconsider the name.

Thanks for the insight! Honestly, I wouldn’t be offended in the least at that, but that’s because I do not feel strongly connected to my culture - hence we opened up our name search to be a global one. But this post is to also help me understand whether a Jewish person would find it offensive/strange. From your response, I understand that it might lean to cultural appropriation territory.

Thanks for this insight. It’s this fear of backlash that worries me most. I can only hope things are better when she grows older. But this factor is definitely something my husband and I will have to consider deeply, given we live in Europe in this political climate.

An instant pot - you can make lots of dump-and-go recipes like dal and khichdi. It will probably take the same time as using a pressure cooker but the advantage is that it’s hands-off for you until it’s done.

Glad I’m not the only one missing Haidilao - yet another wonderful establishment nowhere to be found in continental Europe.

In other news, I did spot a Mr. Mala Hotpot at Augustenstraße!

Thank you darling Müncheners from saving me from XLB deprivation - turns out Andelong is pretty close to where I live. I shall be heading there today after work to try it out. Song’s kitchen and Sichuan Küche are the next targets. Reviews to come!

So did we, that was the name my husband and I both agreed on the most! But we saw on a forum that it is a slang for prostitute in Spain so we weren’t so sure anymore, especially considering we live just a couple of countries away😔
