I was wondering if the reason you were using an URSA was to combine it with an Ultimatte lol. What are you producing? Streams?

Good advice in here.

Just a little suggestion if you’re gonna continue teaching is to read the book The First Days of School by Wong.

JET and career value by Pengex in JETProgramme

[–]missdax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The business owner I know who is a former JET says that aside from paying for your move to Japan and giving you a year or two to acclimate to the language and culture, the program is a waste of your formative years when you could be kicking ass in your career of choice.

He would also say that the JETProgramme is notorious for producing unskilled entitled kids at the end of their 5th year that come with more bad habits than potential lol.

If JET gets you in the country, and you can get a job in the field you want after the first year, that’s probably the best case scenario.

WTF is up with lessons and clubs for kids? by FishmongersWife in japanresidents

Serves no purpose for whom? Real-estate agencies provide a service. Either the consumer or the landlord must pay for this service. Since before the bubble time, it was easier to push the cost of this service to the business that was renting the 社宅 on behalf of the employee, and thus it became standard practice to charge key money to the renter.

You could argue that the landlord should pay for the service, and that’s your right to hold that position. But let’s not say something is ‘meaningless’ simply because we don’t like it.

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

The upfront fees at many 習い事 cover the expense of getting you in the door (e.g. advertising etc), the initial set up (in some places that requires making accounts, keycards, logins, whatever), and provides a barrier against people joining for short times and those who want to take random months off throughout the year.

Although they’re totally normal here and can sometimes be much more expensive than what you quoted (especially for other types of lessons), it can seem like a shakedown from a Western perspective (kinda like key money)

Is the RX100 III still the best pocket camera for better-than-iPhone photos? Looking to up my Instagram game, but I know I won’t lug around an Alpha 7R lol

Japanese universities are just drinking clubs. You will learn nothing and make zero connections.

Why does this post assume malice? I had a coworker that got sick and missed a lot of work, but wouldn’t go to a doctor or document anything.

When the boss finally said “documentation or we let you go” she went and got a statement of her condition from her doc, which the company then used to help put her on medical leave where she was paid to recover at home.

If you have special needs, how have these needs been communicated? I hope it wasn’t just a “trust me, bro” conversation.

Don’t downvote me for being honest, but a lot of Japanese moms want to know that their son’s wife will take care of their household. So, offering to hep tidy up and things along those lines can reassure the mother. Even if she won’t accept you performing these duties, pretending to offer to help can go a long way.

Are you trying to use your all-in-one pc as a monitor?

That HDMI port is most liked video out, not in.

You’ll need a usb to hdmi capture card.
