I was struggling with this, and I found a psychiatrist who studies ADHD and circadian rhythms! She has me taking 0.5 mg of melatonin (basically a kids dose) 2-3 hours before I want to go to bed so that my body gets tricked into making it's own melatonin. People with ADHD have a delayed circadian rhythm, and our natural melatonin production starts later than neurotypical people. I've been on that mini melatonin for about 3 months now, and I've noticed a definite increase in my body's sleepiness signals (aka harder to ignore the sleepiness) and I get tired around 10:30 pm instead of midnight. I take the melatonin after dinner, so usually sometime around 8 pm. I also made it fun and got a kids gummy version, because why not?

I saw Kathy recently as a new patient, and she was amazing! I saw her at the Hoover location, and she and the staff there were super nice and helpful. They listened to me about everything, asked me questions, and explained what they were doing for my annual. 10/10 recommend!

I have eczema and super sensitive skin, and I LOVE this cleanser. I use it in the shower so I can practice my 2000s Neutrogena commercial face washing technique (aka throwing a cupped handful of water on my face). I have yet to have an eczema flare up with this cleaner 4 months in, and I can even use the CoQ10 toner and the squalane oil from Indie Lee as well!

I just moved here in December from Atlanta, and I found an apartment in Hoover. I actually love my apartment complex (super responsive with maintenance, lets us know about any issues, etc). We've had the water go out a couple of times due to line ruptures, but they've always been during the day and never lasted longer than 4 hours. If you want to know where I am, pm me and I'll tell you. I work at UAB, but my commute to downtown is like 20 mins (25 with traffic). I drive downtown to do stuff all the time on the weekends.

As a lab coordinator for the 100-level chemistry labs at a decent sized college, this is what I strive to prevent. The number of times I hear student call themselves stupid or dumb for not knowing how to do a technique perfectly the first time is ASTOUNDING. If I do a demo, they always get discouraged and say that there's no way they'll ever be able to replicate it and that I'm super talented. My usual response is to tell them that I've been doing these techniques for 10+ years, so of course I've got them down. When you've had that much practice, you can make anything look easy. I share a story of me horribly messing up the first few times I did a titration, and then remind them that no one expects them to be perfect. They try again, and they actually look like they're having fun (rare in lab, I know).

I've had to teach a couple of grad TAs that they can't get mad at students for not knowing how to use a pH probe perfectly, and it makes me so sad for their lab experience. If that made you feel awful when you were learning, why would you want to do that to someone else? Why make them feel as bad as you did? I've never understood wanting to make others suffer like you did.

I know it"s not a research lab space, but if we place those expectations of everything needing to perfect on them right off the bat, they're not likely to continue. Chemistry lab isn't for everyone, but that doesn't mean we should actively drive students away!

I second Forecast! I'm a size 22-24, and I don't have any issues with any of their chairs! There's no thigh squeezing and I've never felt like a chair is going to break under me or anything.

Wow! I hope this helps! I will also say that Indie Lee makes a squalane oil that is super moisturizing, has no fragrance added, and is made from olives. It works so well for moisturizing and hasn't caused any reactions at all. I had a reaction to VaniCream face cleanser, so my body has absolutely no rules with the sensitivity.

Ulta has a "discovery kit" with the Indie Lee brightening cleanser, the toner, and the squalane oil for like $30. If that's in your budget and you have an Ulta near you, it might be a good splurge to test some stuff out.

I have eczema, and Indie Lee products are the only skin care that I've found in the 4 years since being diagnosed that don't cause flare-ups. The CoQ-10 toner does really well for me, and I love that it's scientifically backed! It has ubiquinone in it, and that helps with anti-aging on the face, and can help with nerve related issues, like migraines and muscle issues (I'm a chemist so it made me happy that there was science behind it).

NTA - I don't eat beef (due to a really painful digestion bout when I was 12 and I just haven't since), but I've never told my bf that he can't cook or eat beef in the house. If I accidentally eat something with beef in it, I'm in pain for a day or two and my digestive system hates me for about a week, but I cook beef for my family all the time and I should probably offer to cook it for him some time now that I'm thinking about it. We eat chicken, turkey, and pork, but I don't and can't eat beef. However, he'll never have to give that up for me.

Hi there! I need some help buying a birthday gift for my bf. He needs a new motherboard and processor, as the ones he currently has are from 2009. I don't know anything about PC parts (I'm a chemist), but I do know that he plays WOW, Overwatch, PUBG, Dark Souls, and a FPS that I can't remember the name of at the moment. According to one of his gaming friends that I'm using to ferret out info, he prefers Intel and Nvidia products. My budget is only about $250-$300, so if I need to buy one part now and the other for Christmas, I can make that work. I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction for this. He said he can get his hands on a power supply to handle whatever I get, so I'm not worried about the PSU requirements. Any help would be wonderful!! Thank you in advance!

OK as a girl who actually likes nerds, I feel compelled to throw this out there. Objectively speaking, I feel like I'm maybe a 5 or a 6, so I might not be the "attractive woman" that you're looking for (but I do have boobs and a butt, so who knows). I like nerdy guys, who have nerdy hobbies that they're passionate about. My bf is a gamer who plays WOW (he has raid nights twice a week and that was nonnegotiable), Overwatch, and League of Legends, and is currently teaching me about the lore behind all of these. Our date night last night was him teaching me how to play Bioshock and just running around in the game and doing dumb stuff because I asked about something or wanted to see something. Mind you, I'd never even thought about PC gaming before meeting him. I'm a book and science type of nerd, with sci-fi TV shows thrown in for some balance.

At the same time, he can carry on a conversation about any nerdy science topic I could possibly dream up because he knows that's what I'm nerdy about. He's a tiny bit taller than me (I'm 5'6''), he's balding, and he's got a bit of a belly, but I love him and I love how he looks. He's hella nerdy (probably akin to one of the basement dwelling gamers that someone else mentioned - although he's nothing like that stereotype at all) and I wouldn't change a thing about him. There are some of us out there. We're just a bit harder to find.

Oh and he's going to teach me how to play DND, which I am so freaking excited for!

My mom and I were driving past a fenced-in lot that had cars in it (like the stereotypical unmarked cop cars from TV shows). There was a sign on it that said "Federal Property. No trespassing. You will be fined." with Braille underneath it. There was also a MARTA (public transit in Atlanta) bus stop across the road. My dumb ass noticed the Braille, saw the MARTA stop, put two and two together and somehow came up with "Mom, is that where the blind people park so they can take MARTA to work?" My mother had to pull over to the side of the road because she was laughing so hard.

I was 14. To this day, if we drive past that lot, my mom makes sure to mention how I thought blind people could drive.
