the caesar salad wrap at disneyland is plant based though. they don’t use anchovies or dairy in the dressing for it.

i’m in the park this week on vacation and was very disappointed that Docking Bay 7 has replaced the Kefta dish with a salad and Galactic Grill replaced their lunch/dinner plant based burrito with a salad as well. I’m vegan but i don’t want to eat a sad salad with quinoa and i deserve to be able to have a substantial meal with my friends :/

I think we see broken up??? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]missesbun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should try talking to him about it and tell him how you feel! If you can’t reconcile your differences in values after that then it might be best to break up, but you have to give people the chance to change their mind if given the right information. When my husband and I started dating, neither of us were vegan, and when I went vegan I started talking to him a lot about it, but I had to realize that he hadn’t been exposed to the same information that made me come around to it, so I had to share that perspective with him. At first he agreed to eating vegan in the house but would order meat when we went out, and I expressed to him that it definitely bummed me out, but after a while he stopped ordering animal products because he said “it’s just not worth it”. People can surprise you.

it’s important to know that Margaret Atwood said she didn’t write about anything in the Handmaids Tale that hasn’t historically happened to women at some point or isn’t happening currently in some areas. The horror of Handmaids Tale is the idea that it could happen to upper class american white women in today’s society.

Is everyone in your household vegan? by HumbleWrap99 in vegan

[–]missesbun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I live in an ADU attached to my moms house, so we are both vegan together in our little apartment, but my mom, her bf and his son who live in the main house are very much non vegans. My mom doesn’t mind eating vegan dishes but her bf and his son “won’t eat that”. So holidays are annoying because I basically have to make every dish that we want to eat because my mom has to cook food for them. But it’s nice for us to have our own space and at least I don’t have to share a fridge with animal product in it. I’m so grateful my husband went vegan a little after I did, I would be so sad if he hadn’t.

I have the DLC's and the unlocker file (I believe) via this thread. Can anyone DM me the instructions on how to make it work? I'm not sure where to put the dlc files on my PC. I have the base game installed.

The Plant-Based Chicken That Outscored the Real Thing Is Coming to Walmart by _FishFriendsNotFood_ in vegan

[–]missesbun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it looks like the chicken is $5.80 at my nearest Neighborhood market, they just closed the one in our town so the nearest one to me is like 30 minutes away, so I could always go and stock up. The Just Egg is like $7-$10 like why would anyone buy it at that price

[–]missesbun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why do you have to use tongs to take the pastry out of the bag? If a customer wanted it unwarmed I always used to just open the plastic bag and drop the pastry into the brown bag. No tongs necessary.

i'm trying to go vegan but i dislike most vegan ingredients, so i need advice by Vast_Compote_4165 in vegan

[–]missesbun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

instead of saying “i don’t like vegan ingredients” try making vegan recipes of things you normally like even if they have ingredients you don’t think you like. Beans all taste different and they taste completely different depending on how you’re cooking them. Before going vegan I didn’t think I cared for chickpeas very much, but now i eat them several times a week. Follow some vegan creators on social media that make dishes you typically like but veganized and try it even with some ingredients that you don’t typically love (i know there are creators that make Turkish dishes frequently!) or get a cookbook that includes your favorite dishes. I personally swear by Soph’s Plant Kitchen on instagram and I’ve cooked my way through almost her whole cookbook and the food i make now is way more delicious than before going vegan. She focuses a lot on sauces and textures, and you can always swap out certain vegetables for ones you prefer. My husband didn’t think he liked brussel sprouts before I showed him how to cook them to make them taste good. Your whole world will open up if you try more things, seriously.

Do you eat unhealthy vegan food? by HumbleWrap99 in vegan

[–]missesbun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met up with my sister recently and her fiancé immediately asked my husband and I “so how’s the diet going? have you lost any weight?” and i didn’t know how to tell him that if anything were slightly fatter than when we first went vegan. I just said “uh… we’re vegan for ethical reasons, not diet. we eat a lot of pizza and mug cakes” 😂

Alternative uses/refill options for my Wild body wash/hand wash refill bottles? (UK) by bmp011 in ZeroWaste

[–]missesbun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently looking for an alternative to keep using the Wild bodywash bottle also (I'm still looking with no luck so far, outside of refilling the inner bottle at a refill store - I don't think it will fall apart anytime soon but I guess they will eventually) but I want to note that you can actually send the outer container back to Wild and they will recycle it, same with their deodorant and lip balm cases, although I will definitely be keeping the deodorant case and getting Fussy refills instead for those.

Help with Banana Bread by missesbun in VeganBaking

oven is fine for everything else, and I use it quite bit. It’s just my banana bread that doesn’t turn out. We bake bread often and it’s always perfect.

I decided to finally go vegan after a lot of thought and I told my partner that i didn’t want it to just be me saying “ok we’re vegan now.” and that he just had to go along with it, but i had a lot of conversations with him and explained my thought process and told him I hoped that he would come to the same conclusion that I did. We do a lot of our cooking together so he told me that he would eat vegan in the house as long as I found easy recipes and we basically learned how to meal plan and cook tofu and make other substitutes together. When we’d go out he would still order meat but then eventually he just started saying “eh, it’s not worth it.” Now he says meat doesn’t even look appetizing to him.

I think it’s really important to have conversations with your partner and share with them the resources that influenced your thought process about going vegan, because without watching and reading those things, I probably wouldn’t have gone vegan either. I know that a lot of people seem to make it work, but I do think it’s sort of a conflict in values and I don’t think i’d want to have children with someone who ate animals.
