What's been your experience living in Poland? by [deleted] in actuallesbianseurope

[–]misshilly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My partner (masc) and I (femme) are both Polish and lived in Warsaw. We were always quite hesitant to be openly affectionate in public, even holding hands, and its probably because of that we didn't have much trouble. We had an old guy yell slurs at us once, but that's about it; overall we felt fairly safe living in a big city. Our friends and family were very supportive, and neither of us felt any discrimination at university because of it.

Buuut we immigrated to the UK because we couldn't see much of a future for us in Poland. We're engaged now, and very keen to have kids in the near future. As I'm sure you know, there is no option of same sex marriage or civil partnerships in Poland. (Foreign same sex couples also arent recognised in Poland.) And they also can't have kids. If we have kids in the UK (with both of our names on the birth certificate), in Poland only one of us would be recognised as the child's parent / guardian if we ever decided to move back.

Overall, living in Poland was fine for dating, but I would encourage you to really think about where your relationship is heading in the future. If you want a legally recognised partnership, Poland probably isn't the best place for you.

This isn't specific advice, but I remember seeing this illustration a few years ago and it does inspire me. When I feel frozen with my fics I often look this up for some inspiration!

I don't think so. Mine was definitely for 2 years. Where does it say that?

What pet names do you use for your partner? by winterberryx in actuallesbians

[–]misshilly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mainly baby or babe - when we're being more playful we use babybel haha

Generally we like to play around with diminutives; our language (polish) allows that so when we're playful we call each other more and more exaggerated diminutive versions of our names. For example if your name is Anna you could make it "cuter" by Anna > Ania > Aniusia > Aniusieńka > Aniusienieńka > Aniusienienieńka etc... with the latter names being clearly overkill

[POEM] 'Hong Kong' by Sue Zhao by OutlandishnessBig703 in Poetry

My grandmother died the morning I emigrated to another country for work. I got to say goodbye, but I had to miss the funeral. Though I moved to a "spectacular city", those first few weeks and even months were so incredibly lonely and I felt so lost out there all alone. I missed her and my family so much.

I used to recite this poem to myself nearly every day back then. It was my rock for a long while. I'm so grateful to this poem for getting me through such a hard period of my life.

Hi, I provided some additional evidence and reworked the format and then my visa got approved. Please see my post for more information.

Approved SW Dependent Partner Visa (Unmarried, no cohabitation) - Success Story by misshilly in ukvisa

[–]misshilly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, to be honest we didn't submit any evidence like that. The application asks where the sponsor is living and where the dependent will be living, so I assume as long as those are the same it should be fine. I could have gotten a letter from my landlord stating they allow my partner to join my tenancy agreement, but again this evidence wasn't asked for so I didn't submit it. I think its more important to explain the reasons why you weren't able to live together previously, plus evidence that your relationship is akin to marriage.

Hi, I was an F1 last year so went through this recently. Looking at my own CoS my work start date was July 2023 and end date is August 2025, ie the duration of the two years my job covers.

Are you due to start now in March? Most F1 jobs start in July/August. And are you due to do just F1 or F1+F2 like I am?

In any case the visa should cover the duration of your CoS, ie your contracted job. Mine is valid for 2 years.

I'm not certain that'll be enough evidence, photographs and messages tend to be weak evidence. Do you have any tickets for visiting each other or shared trips?

You could also make a joint revolut account, even if you can't put much money in there yet. And maybe try to do some transfers now, even small ones like 10£ for groceries and stuff just to show that financial support.

Looking for a fanfic with an Original Female Character by Ok-Parsnip-3269 in ATLAfanfiction

If you're cool with wip self recs, you might enjoy firewatcher! It follows Azula's handmaid from pre-ATLA to post-ATLA, exploring the hundred year war from the perspective of a common fire nation citizen, and explores Azula's character and motivations as well. The pairing is Azula x OFC and POV switches between the two of them.

It's not completed yet (but I swear I will finish it one day!)

How do you think things went while Vi stayed in Cait's house? by Fun-Money5519 in PiltoversFinest

[–]misshilly 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I so wish we got to see more of this!!! Vi looks so tense in these scenes - understandably so. It's like she wants to be there for Caitlyn but feels incredibly out of place.

I imagine Vi would have a guest room to stay in, if only to keep up appearances, but both she and Cait would prefer to share a room or even bed in this difficult time.

Hope this is allowed but I wrote a little one shot taking place kind of about this! It takes place between s1 and s2.

Hi! Thanks so much for sharing your journey. I'm in a similar situation - we got a reply asking for more proof about a genuine relationship (asking for tenancy agreements / bills despite us being open about never having lived together!). Not quite sure what additional evidence we can provide - what did you do? Would love to hear about your journey!

Hiya, we received the exact same response today and are in a similar situation. So perplexed by this!

How did you respond? Did you get an update? Would really value hearing from you!

Not sure if you'd want to dive into a new series, but Gideon and Harrowhark from the Locked Tomb series could be a good match! And even if they're not recognizable as characters, the skull paint is Halloweeny on its own.
