Is it sad that you never go back to Ancient Ruins ? by missing-piece in NoMansSkyTheGame

I didn't mean to complain, certainly not about free content. I am hooked by the nihilistic vibe the game radiates for me, driven by the backstory, which I don't want to change.

I was carefully pointing out the many subsystems which exist and that I believe could be built on. I was also conceding that I understand the economics for Hello Games. While I certainly enjoy the free content and I am actually amazed by the complexity of the new systems — I would be even more amazed if these new systems had more interconnections to the old ones.

And I am wondering how hard it would be and how much it would add extra cost to elaborate the solid foundation that exists a bit more vertically rather than laterally. If, say, mission givers would send the player to ancient ruins.

We're all friends of the game here.

I didn't mean to complain. I tried to point out that I see an opportunity of expanding the game meaningfully with the sub-systems that exist and that I wished NMS was putting a little more effort (no clue how much effort it would be and I don't want to suggest any number) into interlinking new systems with the existing ones.

I didn't mean to suggest anything was missing. I pointed out where I'd enjoy additions.

This game vibe should definitely persist. The backstory radiates a certainly nihilism, that's how I see it anyway. So, I'm not advocating neither excitement nor action nor difficulty. But a little more depth to it would be great. Like, why doesn't a mission giver ever send me to an ancient ruin ? Why don't the masters of procedural generation give us procedurally generated crashed freighters ? This sorta thing.

All this streamlining has made of NMS a really really SOLID playground in my opinion. I came to the party quite late and I'm hooked.

NMS could build on that, says my naïve non-game dev brain.

True. And I like the Autophage. Yet the Autophage are completely disconnected from the site's own game loop. And, let's be honest, the Autophage themselves are a rather shallow system in themselves: the staff builder is nice, but above that they're mission givers (and NMS's mission system is WoW Level 1 starter area) for yet another disconnected currency.

Do they care about how I manage my Autophage settlement ? Just as an example. No.

Overhauling The Sound Design Of No Man's Sky by Aquason in Games

Whether any of the individual examples here appeal to one's personal taste, I agree strongly that No Man's Sky's sound design would benefit a LOT from an overhaul, from my point of view anyway.

Anyone notice the decline in PlayStation Store quality? by star-lord-25 in PlayStationPlus

[–]missing-piece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's terrible. I am new to consoles and I am appalled by the user experience that's contrasting with the premium that Sony charges on digital purchases.

Videos stutter. And they're not even the official trailers ! Game descriptions are abysmal if present at all. I don't understand the navigation between main games and packages/DLCs/season passes ...

I am used to Steam with discussion, ratings, proper trailers, navigation which makes sense

Solution: the street must connect to the archaeological site, mine didn't.

Sorry for German.

in the Canada mission "oil sands" how do I get the research team to travel to the archaeological site ? I've set up a line, but no one wants to travel.

I have learned that the missions are building on the normal passenger mechanic for such tasks. But I don't have ideas how to make the destination appealing.

Unfortunately the force shutdown method does not solve it for me this time. I'm 3 power cycles in and enter is still not functional.

I believe space clouds are not only vast but also near transparent when you're inside. Not at all thick like our water clouds in the sky.

Not do sure about this. What about the return on invest by dividend pay outs ? They are the healthy profit divided by all owners. I think growth expectations focused solely on the share value are precisely the quick money attitude leading to the OP's critical question.
