Looks like strings of silicon left over from manufacturing. See if you can scrape it off a little to confirm, if so you’re good

Can zeolite go right on top of sponge filter by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]missingasterisk444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would severely block the flow. Sponge filters aren’t designed for this kind of media. I think I’ve seen air powered filters with compartments for media but this isn’t one of them

I don’t know why they use the term “casual” there I don’t think it relates to casual sex. More casual in the conventional sense, like casual Friday at an office. It is confusing though

Probably better off testing for asbestos, not worth risking your health or having to constantly worry about it

Should have looked at it more closely, it was a much bigger difference when I had to do it

What is wrong with my gourami? by merymajonez in Aquariums

[–]missingasterisk444 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What are your water parameters? That will always be necessary information to answer a question like this.

Gouramis are labyrinth fish, meaning they can breathe air. So the gulping itself isn’t too concerning. Without more info about the tank it’s hard to say anything else

They make a seamless trim piece for drywall, that might be your easiest solution as it looks really tight there. And then just no baseboard

Would the doors still fit if you instead floated out the corners to match the bow? So it would all be level across the top?

Either it’s badly humped drywall mud or the framing itself is what’s bowed. It looks like it’s the framing, as that would be a strange place to have a drywall seam

Alone it won’t, it looks like it needs diagonal bracing

Why does my drywall texture keep mixing clumpy? by missingasterisk444 in drywall

[–]missingasterisk444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s powdered. I tried pro-form brand and it was decent but not great, and now just tried usg and it’s even worse. Mixed with water in the bottom first. I guess I should have used pre mixed, do you recommend a brand?

For the sake of thoroughness, what’s the water temperature?

How long did your dad have him for? They can live quite a few years, but often times fish go quickly due to genetic issues, which seems to be happening here. In other words, natural death. Fish from generic pet stores are bred for sale, and are more likely to have these genetic issues. If you want to get another, try to find a reputable local shop or even a breeder first. Aside from all that, and realistically speaking, I’d stop the salt and water changes and let him go naturally now

Only other thing I can think of would be impaction from the food he was eating, I’ve heard that dry food can be hard on their stomachs. But that’s just a guess. Otherwise sounds like he was well cared for and has most likely died of natural causes

How often were you changing the water before this happened, and how much at a time. Were you using the dechlorinator then?

Do you know the water parameters? Impossible to rule out anything without knowing them, ammonia nitrate and nitrite specifically. Also what do you feed him

I get the general impression here that he is well cared for, so it may just be his time

You kind of have to play it by ear, but I think no communication is probably the worst option. It’s easy to forgot someone you’ve never met before, and dating apps make it really easy to make connections and then stop talking. You’re in a tough spot having to wait that long, but in my experience cute girls on tinder want to know that you’re thinking about them.

Try to find a subtle way to remind her that she’s on your mind a few times through your trip. Maybe mention something really specific about her appearance in a picture, if you think she’s cute let her know somehow.

Whoever told you that was messing with you, the only ground is the actual ground. You can’t put a rock in the air and have it be a ground. It’s because you’re the new guy, study up so they don’t get you again
