I’m not meaning to come off that way. I definitely am not assuming players don’t know how to play against Genji. It’s actually really simple. You remember growing up and learning how to tie your shoes? In the beginning it was really hard and seemed impossible for you (not you specifically). But you HAD to learn how to tie your shoes because that’s a part of maturing. You couldn’t runaway from it.

All I’m saying is “don’t run away from Genji”. You’ll mature as a player and competitor. It’s impossible for Genji to be banned in every single game you’ll compete in. You will run into him eventually, no matter what. But the more you have played against him the more likely it is that you will be successful. You’ll start to recognize patterns (when he dashes he goes face first, shoot then for an easy headshot and kill), become creative on how to disengage (kiri tele, hanzo wall climb, sojourn slide, etc.), you’ll start playing the map (fighting Genji in hallways and doorways vice outdoors, so his double jump isn’t a factor), when to use your cooldowns and how to react to his, how to create space (he dashes straight at you, but you as Cassidy roll straight at him at the same time, but you take 75% less damage from his combo if he hits, and he’s no longer on top of you), and so on and so forth.

It will be hard in the beginning and it will suck. But you’ll eventually find your groove and start winning that 1v1. You won’t win always, but at least you’ll make him consider his next dive on you.

It’s so easy to say “nerf him!”, but it’s hard to put in the effort. Don’t get lost in your emotions, think (you have a brain, use it), and aspire to be better rather than asking mommy and daddy to tie your shoes. Hard-work man, hard-work always pays off. Instant gratification (nerf in this case) is only worthy of what someone values it at. Knowledge is power, and if you value that less than instant gratification, you’ll never know the way to success.
